The Orleans Parish lockup is some delux accomdations. If you get thrown in the drunk tank the weekend just bfore Fat Tues, they don't let you out until Ash Wednesday. I almost got thrown in jail a couple years ago for taking a leak in an alley next to a Dunkin Donuts.

What's the drinking laws like in Colombia? Can you buy cold beer, can you buy hard liqour, and what time to liqour stores close?

Yes you can buy cold beer! No beer-wine or liquor on Sunday! Some restaurants can still serve but I'm not sure which ones. You can buy beer-wine up until midnight on Sat. After that, none until 9am Monday morn. Liquor stores close at 7 PM. Remember, after 7PM Sat, no liquor until Monday morning.

If you go to bars on Friday night, you can drink liquor until 2 AM after that it is only beer and wine, but there is no certain time the bars close. Most bars in 5 points will stay open as long as people are still drinking. Saturday night all bars close at 2 AM, except for Jim Casey's on Rosewood. Store sales have been covered above, and most all restaurants in town serve alcohol on Sunday. Hope that helps

Also BayouBengalRob, we had to go through the most shady bail bondsman to get my friend out of jail. The price of the bail also changed 3 times between the time he went in and 10 AM when we got him out!! N.O. must make a FORTUNE on out of towners assing it up on Bourbon Street.

I remember the mini-bottles while at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach back in August. I asked the bartender about that and he said it was due to a law where you can't serve massive quantities of liqour or something like that but yet I was able to go oto a store and buy a fifth. That's kind of stupid. Man one of the reasons you lay an extra tip is to get a lil extra splash of rum or something.

Actually, the mini-bottles are much more than a shot! It's a pretty big controversy over here. A mini bottle is about a shot and a half by volume!!! MADD is against it because people get drunker faster! "WOW! I only had 4 drinks and I feel pretty good!" 4 = 6:shock:

The bartender did tell me it was about a shot and a half but it was pretty expensive for my rum&coke but I figured it was because I was at the HOB. Beer and liqour prices at the stores was reasonable. How much are drinks at your typical Charleston or Colombia bar?

Anywhere from 3.50 to 5.50 for liquor. Depending on what level of quality you get.
