we could use this opportunity to sway voters (media). we need games in the east or far west where we are not seen that often. they dont even need to be the top tier teams either. East- Boston College or Syracuse. VA or Clemson West. UCLA, Air Force, Oregon few extra votes that we would never get always helps........ with that said bring back aTm. i miss the hitler youth brown shirts!
I don't think it's a stupid question at all. I would think you could pretty much schedule anybody you could get to play, conference members included, just so long as you had some sort of approval from the SEC and the game was specifically designated as a non-conference game, i.e., doesn't count toward the final league standings. Alabama and Auburn used to do this sort of thing in baseball all the time so they could play each other more than 3 times a year.
As a matter of fact, that use to happen every so often back in the days when the SEC when the SEC only required 5 or 6 conference games.
I think out of the solutions... that one is the most beneficial...for us and for the other team. LSU vs SC would be a good matchup.. The whole SEC should think about this huh? I see no cons to it... anyone?
The OBVIOUS game is a fall purple/gold match up! There would be zero money paid to the visiting team, the visiting fans would not complain about their seat location, the visiting band would be equal to the home team band, and all the post game callers would only comment on how well LSU played! It'd be perfect for just about every team in the country, too! Man, the aggie intersquad fall game would be great! Scoreless tie, numerous overtimes, lots of injuries!
Actually.. the more i think about it, a 12th game should encourage better competition.. most teams complaint about a home and home is that they need 7 games to cover their expenses, and a home and home would cost them that 7th game in the away year. A twefth game allows for a home and home so that they have basically 7 then 8 (or 8 then 7) homes games, or essentially, 7 1/2 home games. Might take a few years for the cheapo contracts to clear, but i think it might help. However, there is the possibilty that schools will "redo the books" and say, "oh, we now need an 8th home game to cover our expenses.." greedy bastards..
That's true. Plus adding a very good team onto the schedule while losing a byre week may also come into to play. What I think it may do yhough is give us 1 good OOC matchup every year, one medium matchup up and 2 creme puffs.
It'd be cool to see a team from say, the PAC-10 come down and experience Tiger stadium. Or a Michigan/OSU.
