I'd vote notre dame as well. did matt roth get his degree? Does he have a speech impediment or is he simply the missing link?
Sure... my comments were in reference to them getting a national prime time night game.... as opposed to ABC's usual four regional games on weekends. The first game is at Ohio State with an 8 pm start. Ohio State seldom, very seldom, plays home night games. ABC had as much to do with this match-up as either school... they made the $$'s work!
One of the truly sad facts coming out of this 12th game story is who various teams have already lined up. Kentucky has dropped so far (didn't think that was possible) that they have a home and home series with TEMPLE, and a 2-for-1 deal with AKRON. State has some real lowlife hook ups coming with Jacksonville State (or what ever they're calling themselves now). Ole Miss won't comment, but any SEC team that opens a series AT Wyoming is bound to have a real doozey in the attic. Instead of asking who we'd like to see LSU play, it may be more appropriate to ask who we DON'T want LSU to play! Given the Pond Scum or say a diet of Southeastern, Southern, Nicholls, Northwest, and Grambling, I would much rather hang Greenie skins on the wall annually. This 12th game is looking more and more like an excuse for the majors to play D-1AA teams. The only "glamour" 12th game announced to date, and it doesn't rile me up, is Oklahoma going to Oregon in 2006.
aTm needs to be back on the schedule. Not only did I enjoy that series but I also always enjoyed the aTm fans.
Roth wasn't always with us mentally. His quote: "Football's great... where else can you hit someone as hard as you want and not go to jail". Ferentz's quote (paraphrased): "Football is the only thing in Matt's life. That may sound unhealthy, but I'm not sure what he'd be doing without it". I don't know what he had against Michigan, but he always played at a whole 'nuther level against them. We get posts constantly from the Wishagains wanting to make sure he's actually gone.
Teams in the SEC are extra screwed because of the SEC CG... Look at USC.. they were allowed to schedule UCLA during the week win conferences play their CG's, so they had no problem adding to their schedule...
If LSU adds the Louisiana schools in a rotation, it should be to replace the App. St.'s on their schedule.. the twefth game should be against a quality opponent that is near to hear, so that both teams can travel well to the home and home. Maybe a strong Conf. USA team, they are always looking for that "proof we belong" game.
Ideally I'd love to see LSU play Tulane and Rice every year for two cupcake games. Then play a BIG game like Arizona State, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Washington, Texas, Oklahoma...then a low-level team from a major BCS conference like Duke, Kansas, Wake Forest, Indiana. This way the Tigers play their three mediocre opponents, one good opponent prior to facing the SEC slate. I really hate it when LSU plays a I-AA opponent, seems like a big waste of money.
