Oh Gawd!! The ringing "note of endorsement" by the AD! At the least, I'd be willing to bet we see some shake-up on that staff during the off-season. Considering what I know about Hobbs (not to mention think) he'd be the first on my chopping block.
tubby is in serious trouble at uk. will he be fired? no, but if he's a first round knockout look for a press conference announcing tubby has decided to move on with the boosters buying out the contract. i can think of no one in the state who is or has been happy w/tubby for the last few years. won his nc the year after pitino left (most say pitino won that nc ) and the program's headed downhill ever since. the bluegrass doesn't relish the idea of the premier (in their mind) basketball program in america going further south.tubby does not recruit well, and seemingly would rather win games 50-49 than the uptempo pace pitino introduced uk too. i wouldn't look for tubby to last much longer at uk or i'd look for wholesale changes on the coaching staff.
I would not hire a Sutton to coach basketball at my university. I know you love all Oklahoma based coaches, please stop with all of that and fast.
I think SabanFan should be the next LSU basketball coach. Seriously now though. I think he is about the only poster that is unchanged in times of turmoil. He is very steady and a pretty smart poster, his emotions don't get the best of him. I'm not trying to kiss butt here either.:nope:
I must be in Bizarro world, I have agreed with Terry this entire post! Good job, Terry!:thumb:
actually, i don't love all oklahoma based coaches. there have been some i just flat haven't liked at all. i mentioned scott sutton based on his record as a coach and as from what i have seen of him as an individual. i do not judge people on what their family members have done or not done. i would have a sutton at my university.
Reggie Theus which now coaches NM Sate might be a good choice. He would definitley be able to recruit based on his name alone. Tony Bennett from Wash State, but he probably would not leave. Dana Altman from Creighton.
I used to live in east Mphs. I understand what a coach there has in terms of his job and all the benefits that come along with it. Off the top of my head, I think Calipari is making what, 1.2 mil a year now? When NC State was after him, offering more money, he didn't entertain that offer long at all, if at any. Heck, add playing at the Fed Ex Center now and you'll be hard pressed to find any basketball arena that compares to what he has in Memphis.
Why would a big time coach want this job. Bradys salary is in the middle of the pack in the SEC. The facilities are just ahead of the Miississippi schools. The commitment by the school and its fans is pathetic. LSU thinks its Florida but it really is a notch above the Mississippi schools when it comes to overall facilities and support.
