    Hey Why Not

He knows how to get the ball to the right player, Matt Mauck . He has played on a winning team . Most of the players at least know how to spell his name and he has ties to LSU.

I do believe that about a couple of weeks ago, Cal gave Tedford a fat 5 year extension. He's said himself that if they improve the facilities hes staying, so i guess they are pretty set on having him coach there for a long time. Can't say that i blame. Just think what he could do with JR, Flynn, and RP if we got him.

    latest rumors

The latest I've read is that (1) ESPN radio says Saban will take the weekend to think about it. That's a good sign but doesn't change my mind. (2) Del Rio's agent has contacted LSU. (3) Holmgren's name is also being mentioned. Del Rio or Holmgren certainly have some oomph and would be big names. Re Butch Davis, all things being equal would love to have him, but do we really want someone who has said he wants to take the year off, who had a panic attack before a Browns' game this year? That just doesn't sound like a good situation for LSU. Personally I don't see any way Saban is going to reject the Dolphins' offer which reportedly includes a percentage of ownership in the franchise, that is incredible. I think Skip will quickly assess the interest of Davis, Del Rio and Holmgren (and perhaps Gruden or Shanahan, but they are extreme longshots), and might pull the trigger on Del Rio or Holmgren if they're interested, otherwise, it's Riley or Rodriguez.

I'd take Jack Del Rio in a heartbeat if we can get him. He'd be a great fit here.

Don't know where you read this ESPN Radio report on Saban taking "the weekend".

Since he'll be travelling with the team to Orlando Sat. afternoon/evening, I seriously doubt he'd want this hovering over his or his team's head as they travel for their game.

He had the offer in hand Wed. evening. Sat. afternoon gives him nearly 72 hours to sleep on it.

Given the circumstances, he'll have to make a decision, IMO, before leaving for Orlando.
