Will Nick start wearing a houndstooth hat? God knows he needs to learn how to walk on water.

Waking up on the bottom of the lake has to be a little disturbing!

Devery Henderson - with so much focus on Clayton, Henderson will have a "breakout" year. As we started to see last season Henderson is the real deal, that catch he made in the endzone vs Ole Miss and broke his arm was unbelievable.

Joesph Addia - Fact is, this guy was the best RB on the team in 2002. Now he will get his shot!!!

Matt Mauck - By this I don't mean he will throw for 3000yds but he will play the role of leader and lead LSU to at least 10 wins!!

This is just the "BREAKOUT" season, list................everyone else will still be "AWESOME"

Watch out for Shawn Jordan at FB/RB. The recruiting film reminded me of Cecil the Diesel - but this guy seems to be a solid student with his head on straight. Don't be surprised if he has an impact!:helmet:

Who is expected to win the job at FB this year, Hurley, Jordan (true frosh?), or someone else? With the WR talent we have, I wouldn't mind a lot of one back sets with 3-4 WR's to spread the field. Or what about Addai and another tailback together (Carey, Vincent, A. Broussard) like we did last year some. That would be serious speed on offense.

LSU always carries a FB on the depth chart, but we see the TB-only set a lot or the slot-back set, neither of which feature a FB. The FB seems to only come out as a blocking back on short-yardage. It's been a long time since LSU fielded an exceptional fullback.

I've often yearned for a big bruising LSU fullback to carry the ball as well as block. Someone who's always good for 1 yard when you really need it. Or even an average-sized but hard-nosed player like Kelly Simmons, who made a All-American out of Charles Alexander. Simmons was in at FB in every formation and was an effective blocker that got out in front of Alexander on the sweep and took down linebackers inside. Plus he carried the ball 7 or 8 times a games and averaged over 5 yards a carry, forcing the inside LB to wait until he was sure that the FB dive wasn't coming, making him too late to catch Alexander on the pitch.

i'm looking for someone to step up at the safety position. Right now i'm not so sure Jack Hunt can, but I don't know who really can....except for Clayton of course. Hopefully Laron Landry, or Nick Child, or maybe even Justin Vincent or Keron Gordon.

I just hope these guys realize that this position is up for grabs this fall.

I would have said Spears as well. Perhaps even Randal Gay could post good numbers with Webster playing as well as he did last year. If Webster is on top of his game like last season, then whomever is manning the other CB position, whether it be Gay or Prude, needs to step up as well. 'Cause with Webster forcing QB's to go the other way, the 2nd CB slot will get lots of looks.

IMO, Webster will be the key to unlocking any other "breakout" sleepers. If he is able to shut down his side of the field, it takes away one more weapon the opposition has on offense, allowing players like Spears, Lavalais and, like I said, either Prude or Gay, opportunities at making plays. Without solid play from Webster, offenses won't be afraid to spread the ball around all over the field, not giving any one particular player on our defense enough chances to make big plays.

I don't think you can realistically expect Hunt to be like LeJune or Damien James. All you can expect from him is to hope that he's not a liability on defense--Having him make the occassional key, tackle or pass defended, will make Jack Hunt successful this season....In my eyes anyway. After all, this IS a guy who came to us as a WR and has just made this transition for purposes soley of supplying enough depth at the safety position.

Vincent might be in the same situation as what Hunt was in--in that their are simply too many players ahead of him on the depth cart at his original position, forcing him to go to one of lesser depth.

Excellent choice! I had forgotten all about Turner. After all, why wouldn't he be a candidate??? Didn't he have something like 75 tackles last season??? Solid.
