I really feel guilty that I can't pull for Auburn to win the National Championship. I have tried to talk myself into it, by saying that I want another SEC school to win(I was excited last year for LSU, and I think I would be for anyone else), and they've waited a long time, and if they go undefeated...they should win..............I just can't do it. I lived for a long time in South Alabama, and the Auburn fans would drive me crazy....give me a hard time...whether they won or lost, and I just don't think that I could take hearing them talk about the "crystal football".........I mean 1...how many does Bama have(ok..I know people question this...but everyone admits its a lot more than 1...when Auburn (maybe I'll call them AUA...Auburn University in Auburn not to confuse with Auburn University in Montgomery....since they like to call us UAT...which we hate) won in 57' they were not known as Auburn University). Maybe I'll change my mind and be a good sport and wish them well....but if they come to Tuscaloosa and act like they own the place.............NEVER.
Point of order: Bama has zero "crystal footballs". They've never won the BCS Championship. And would it kill you to use regular sentences and punctuation?
I'm still holding out hope for an SEC West title, so I'll be rooting against Auburn this weekend. But after they beat the hell out of the Rebels, I'll wish them luck the rest of the way. If LSU can't win it all this year, I just as well see another SEC team win it ... and Auburn gives the SEC the best shot right now!
Excuse me, but I have seen the "crystal football" in the Bryant Museum, and I have a picture of Gene Stallings holding it after the 1992 National Championship win.It was the trophy for the national championship that year...it's crystal and it is a football I assure you. I do want to thank you for responding...now I don't feel quilty anymore. As for my punctuation...........I will try to do better on the Auburn site, because no one on this forum has seemed to have a problem with it. It's sort of like "when I'm talking to you I will put it where you can understand, but since I'm not talking to you..don't worry about it".
I'm sure you know that Auburn people had ten times rather win the Iron Bowl than a MNC. We WILL come to Tuscalooser and act like we own it because WE DO. How else can you see it since we have played UAT there in three different centuries and never lost. War Damn Eagle

I know what you mean. I have always said in the past that I always wanted to win the Iron Bowl even if it meant we could only win one game that season. This year has been strange. With all that is going on with Tenn. I really wanted that game this year, but that is not to say that I don't want to win the Iron Bowl. I understand what you are saying about we have never beaten you here in Tuscaloosa, and that must make ya'll feel great. I know what it felt like to win the first time in Auburn, and frankly it was a relief, because I didn't think we'd ever do it. We're going to win here sooner or later, and if it's not this year, maybe in 2 years, but we all know it will happen, and then we can relax(ha).
Well I guess this clears up once and for all who had the Tiger mascot first, hate to say it, but it has to be awbarn. Hell, who knew they had been playing football for "3 centuries"!!!  It's a wonder they're not all blind, having played with themselves for at least 2 centuries. :hihi: :hihi: :hihi:
The history of Auburn football (and LSU football for that matter) spans 3 separate centuries: the 1800's, the 1900's, and the 2000's.
