To me the job is a two man race between Russell and Flynn. Randall has shown what he can do and it is not much. Randall will go down in history for the Blue Grass Miracle and that is about it!!!!!! I know Russell and Flynn are in good hands with Jimbo training them-----I can't wait for the spring game.

There is no doubt the Spring game will have a record crowd.

I'm not going to count out Randall just yet. He got thrown to the wolves in 2002 as a green QB and got his ass chewed pretty bad. But he did put up the Bluegrass Miracle and has some game experience that could come in handy if the freshmen aren't ready to go in September.

Even if Flynn or Russell earn the start, having a backup QB with experience is good thing for LSU.

I don't see how anyone can say that all three are even (at this point). Randal was a young player with little or no experience and then suddenly found himself starting mid to late season games in the SEC. I was always extremely nervous to watch him play because of his in-experience. Certainly the experience from those starts in the SEC counts for something now though.

In my opinion the nod should be given to Randal going into Spring practice. If the new guys are all they are hyped up to be, then it will work out with one of them taking control and moving into the starters role in the fall. I know one thing though, I'll be just as nervous seeing Russel or Flynn starting their first game as I was seeing Randal in 2002.

I have full confidence in both of the freshman. They are in great hands with Jimbo Fisher coahing them. Jimbo's has a great track record in molding QBs. In fact, whenever he decides to leave for a head coaching job, that part will be missed the most. Lots of people can call plays, but his development of the QB position has been vital to our success over the past 4 years.

I, personally, am not shocked by Mauck leaving, and excited about what next year will bring as far as a QB. If we are looking at Randall or Russell, we may also be looking at changing our offensive philosophy to a more mobile qb look spread look. If it is Flynn we will not change much of anything.

It is no secret here that I am a huge Marcus Randall critic, HOWEVER.....

This is his chance to be a leader and make a name for himself here at LSU instead of "the guy who threw the hail mary to Henderson" moniker he currently holds. I can see him stepping it up and starting next year, no doubt.

I also think the two freshman will be in the running in the spring game. Russell has been compared to Chris Leak, only he will have a year more maturity and swagger behind him then Leak who was thrown to the wolves last year. Flynn is good too, just a different good, and could probably step in immediately in our current scheme and put up big number.

It will all play out in the spring, but I think Jamarcus will outshine the rest.

Thanks Matt Mauck for some extraordinary memories I will always have as a Tiger fan. Welcome to the fututre of LSU, whover it is, you have large shoes to fill......

I’m not looking to take over the roll for ramah, but if we want to win or have our best chance to win, we’re better off with Randall on the bench or another position. I guess out of sight out of mind.

Experience – He had as much or more than Mauck from last season and with out a doubt against stiffer competition. Did anyone pay attention to the times he entered the game this year. He had several series with the first team too. Randall will lead this team to nothing but failure. We have a good defense coming back, but they are not that good to compensate for Randall.

Everyone has an opinion and I have one too. The QB will come from Russell or Flynn. One or both of these is our future. I’d rather take a chance with the talent and no experience than to ever see Randall at the QB position again. Randall has an arm, but his arm is like having a fighter jet with a missile with no guidance system.

Thats sounds like a lot of the talk about Mauck before last spring. Sometimes it takes a while for a QB to develope and Jimbo knows how to bring them along. I'm excited about our freshmen but don't brush Randall aside just yet. I look for it to be a tight three way race.
