During those final seconds I was a basket case as well, I think someone told me Miles could have kicked it on 2nd down (1st and 3rd too) and not lost possession if we missed the field goal. An overtime rule. Is this true or was it the crown royal talkin and have I exposed myself to ridicule?
Not correct, if you miss it the other team gets possession. However if there is a bad snap on 1st or 2nd you can just fall on the ball and still kick on the next down.
Ah that makes much more sense......damn degenerates I was watching it with are always messing with me. Thanks TT
Seemed to me that Saban tried to give Miles a taste of his own medicine with the trick play and it bit him in the ass. And what I want to know, is if you have a kicker that can't make a kick from past 45 why not punt and let your defense play with 80 yards at their backs? Miles outcoached Saban because he made Saban do things he wouldn't normally do. That is respect.
You are right Saban's goal was too take J Lee out , knock him out of the game . That is Saban Football. Like the Tide fans said after the Auburn game ," LSU be careful of what you wish for . " You remember we had fans at the end of the Auburn game with signs that read , "WE WANT BAMA " Well we got what we wanted a win over bama . Miles was not running up and down the field cursing , but Saban was . My grandson said said "Wow that was a bad word " I said yea that is Saban style coaching . Somewhere in the 3rd quarter you could see that look in Saban's eyes , kinda like a trapped animal. he knew then this game was going the wrong way . His plan worked J Lee was out of the game , and yet the LSU team did not fall apart .He Saban thought his Bama team could and would score 3 td's against LSU coordinator John Chavis, The Chief's defense. But it did not happen , Saban is a smart man , not a great coach . Miles beats Saban hands down as a coach , and as a person .The pregame salute from Coach Miles too the Booing bama Fans , Coach Miles acknowledged the Bama faithful, he did not have too do that . But he knows we as fans are a important part of each game . Saban will lose another game this season , I don't think I was right at the start of the season saying bama would lose 3 I can't see it now , but would love for that too happen Miles is the better coach .
He was lining it up in the middle. No way Ware was going to cough it up. You can tell on the 2nd down play he was told to "just take it to the middle and then cut up the field, if you gain yards ok, if not not a big deal but stay in the middle of the field and cover up the rock". I thought it was smart.
The play calling wasn't horrendous. Bama was on it's game and nothing worked for us. I think the coaches eventually said "phuck it. Let's not do something stupid to give this thing away".
Either team could have won. Can’t believe not one TD was scored. LSU’s world class CB unit showed why they may all be in the pros one day. Wings 75 yard blast and the interception in the goal for LSU had nothing to do with play calling they were just great individual efforts. Saban stuck that dude back there thinking he was healthy enough to make a fair catch but the returners brain farted. Defense was playing well enough that if he makes the catch they probably wouldn't have scored anyway. Bama’s special teams lost this game. Had they nailed all the FG attempts LSU would be ranked #4 today. I give the coaching match up a tie. No one really separated them self with a better game plane. Saban however gave his team more scoring opportunities. Lets face it the Mad Hatter comes from wonderland and he was as lucky as a rabbit as a few stated earlier. :LSU231:
Once Bama ventured inside LSU's 30 yard line, they gained a total of negative 17 yards. Alabama ran just three plays inside LSU's red zone all night. :tigereye:
