Hi Tiger fans. I'm a WSU Coug, class of '73. Was born and raised about 15 minutes west of Seattle as the crow flies. Enjoy your visit to the Puget Sound. It's usually pretty nice this time of the year, but can get a little chilly after the sun sets. Hopefully the weather cooperates so you can enjoy some really beautiful scenery like Mt. Rainier. Husky Stadium is crumbling but what a view of Lake Washington and all the yachts. Traveling from the east to west is easier than going the other way. You gain two hours, not a problem. In the NFL, when the Seahawks have to travel to Florida to play a 1 pm game, it's 10:00 am our time so it makes a huge difference. Just trying to give you a little perspective, and since the game is a late one, your kids won't miss a beat. As far as the game against the mutts is concerned, I will try to provide you with some very biased, but objective insight. Sarkisian has never led a high school program, let along a major BCS conference team. I guess that's why Nick Holt, who drove highly regarded Idaho  into the ground his only years there, was given the title of Assistant Head Coach. Quite the duo. The slate is clean right now, but the fans sure love the energy they've brought to the program. It's your job to get them started off on the right foot, please! I've been reading all the comments in the Husky Forum in The Seattle Times. Amuse yourself. Here are a couple of links: LSU fans need a reality check and The OFFICIAL UW-LSU pregame thread. My take is that the LSU posters seem to be able to back up pretty much everything they say. You be the judge on the other 'purple and gold' posters. Jake Locker is a really good athlete and might have a decent career in the NFL, but not at QB, imho. I think he'd make a terrific safety. If that endeavor fails, he just signed with the Anaheim Angels as a backup plan. He's a terrific athlete, is big, runs like a deer, but hasn't proven squat yet as a college QB. Maybe he changes all that this year, but to mention him in the same sentence with Tim Tebow is kind of funny to me, and apparently to LSU fans as well. The mutts are trying to build a new brand name after finishing in the cellar of the Pac-10 for most of the last 7-8 years. Us Cougs are the last team to finish above USC in the standings, tying with them in 2003 but going to the Rose Bowl by virtue of beating them during the regular season. We've fallen on hard times too, but always finish ahead of the pups in the standings, even last year when we had to squeek out an OT win to put the cherry on their 0-12 perfect season. Okay, back on track. New coach, new system, coming off a winless season, nation's longest losing streak at 14 games, only D1 program last year to finish winless, you get the picture. Okay, okay, back on track. If you are ready for business from the get-go and don't let them get the jump on you, you will win easily and probably be able to name the score. If they jump out on top for some strange reason, don't panic! They will eventually fold like a cheap lawn chair. Other than their 60,000 vocal fans, not much else stands in your way. One of your posters was talking about how he would be looking for athletes during warmups. I'm interested to hear what he finds because I'd be surprised if LSU didn't have most of them. If LSU is as fast as I hear they are, Washington can't defend against that. The mutts don't have much in the beef and strength department either. It's pretty much your basic size, speed and strength along with a super coaching staff coming into Montlake and taking it to them early and often. Your whole traveling squad will get plenty of opportunity to play. In the Huskie's defense, us Cougs know what it's like to start from scratch. Not going there. Look it up yourself. :yelwink2: You don't turn around a program overnight. Eight months after a coaching change, even under the best of circumstances, is asking a lot for a team on the rebound to get tested like this. It doesn't get much better for them with USC visiting in two short weeks after you guys leave. We're (I'm) hoping like hell you beat them up so bad that our buddies from the other side of the WA / Idaho border, 8 miles from our campus in Pullman, the U of Idaho from Moscow, can put #16 in a row on them. Get my drift? My perfect day will be a Coug upset over Stanford and an LSU victory to top it off later that evening.opcorn: BTW - Aren't some of them pup posters hilarious (delusional or arrogant works too)? Geaux Tigers!!!:geauxtige Go Cougs!!! I will check in periodically for those that might have a question or two for me. (edit: Removed statement about Pres. Bush and FEMA that got me into hot water with LSUfan71.)
Enjoyed that post. But asking a Cougar fan to answer questions about the Huskies is like asking a Bammer to answer questions about Auburn.
enjoyed your post! :thumb: now, the "reality check" post does seem a bit legit to me. maybe miles is being cautious, but it does seem like a lot of guys are missing practice.
We were off last year...to the tune of 8-5...in the SEC. They were off last year to the tune of o-fer...in the Pac 1. - If the Pac 10 is more than a one team league, name the other that's won the conference lately...and name the other that's won ANY football championship lately. - If LSU truly does come out looking like a top ten team against UDub...it will be terribly lopsided. UDub may be improved, (how can they NOT??) but to be completely honest...improvement for them from last year is top 110. - Them's the facts. I have respect for them as a program historically, but if they even keep it close...if they score more than 10...I would be shocked.
from the LSU- UW game thread at View topic - The OFFICIAL UW-LSU pregrame thread | The Seattle Times do they follow football at all in the northwest? or am i just mis-understanding these guys? :hihi:
 That's funny right there! Apparently they don't watch in January. ***edit*** After checking it out for myself, I think the writer is saying that THIS years LSU team is not the calibre of '07 tOSU. He's probably still wrong, but THAT tOSU team did play in the MNC game. Not to likely THIS LSU team will do the same. Also, it seemed most of the responces were about like they are here...LSU in a blowout.
I've been lurking there and posting a little. Better crowd than most on NOLA.com, FWIW. But bad football has stunted their knowledge, I think.
