Devery started as a running back. Micheal Clayton was as hyped as the five above. I'd be willing to bet that 2 or 3 of those guys will be as good as them. Which is pretty damn good.
Unfortunately, there is no football being played now. Thus, all that is left to us is conjecture and speculation. The present doesn't exist as far football is concerned right now. All we have is past and future. Memories of games and players past ( and future!) There is NO better time to discuss recruits than right now. That's all we have at the moment.
I'd say Clayton was hyped more than the above. He was a consensus top HS WR. But the above 5 can definitely play and could be as good as Clayton, if not better...
Clayton was, I believe, the top rated WR coming out of high school. So is Early Doucet. And Xavier is number two. I'm still excited about seeing Davis, Bowe, and Hill on the field together in a year or so. If we manage to get even one of the two prospects this year, that'll be an incredible corp to defend. If we get BOTH....with Flynn or Russell having two years of experience under Jimbo's system throwing to them...whew.
Re: Actually it was Reggie Williams of Washington who was the consensus #1 WR that year. Clayton was top 3 Anyone see Carter's stats. 23 catches for over 800 yards  . LoL 35 yds per catch.
Re: Reggie Williams Reggie Williams plays for the University of Washington. He's also one of those players that have played as hyped. In 2001, his freshmen year, he had 55 Rec. for 973 yds, 3 TD He blew up in 2002. 94 Rec, 1455 yds, 11 TD
