Xavier Carter? Oh, yeah, there's a Hall of Famer. You didn't think about this very long did you? A guy who isn't even a starter.

Come on guys. There is only one serious choice. They guy that still owns the NCAA basketball scoring record after 32 years even though he only had 3 years eligibility and no 3-point shot.

    Pistol Pete Maravich.

There are only four qualified candidates--men who are in the Hall of fame and have had their LSU numbers retired.

    Maravich
    Cannon
    Pettit
O'Neal (an HOF cinch, already being an all-time NBA top-50.

So a track star cannot be a great athlete? Again, I was thinking in terms of pure athletic ability. Athletics does go beyond the gridiron and the court.

Now if you're stricly talking about exploits in football, basketball, then you're right. I wouldn't put him in the top 100. I was just thinking in broader terms.

John Booty plays for USC. Get your facts straight. Best LSU Golfer = David Toms!

    First down! Go Tigers!

the fact is he's referring to Booty Sr. not Jr., however I still would not agree with that.

    football - Billy Cannon
    basketball - Pete Maravich
    baseball - Joey Belle

all of these guys are debatable, especially with football and baseball. for basketball, I see no one even close to the top two of Pistol and Shaq...Petit was good and I'd put him in the top three based on stats and reputation but not having seen him play, that's all I have to go on. football has so much to do with the era the guy played in, the passing game has developed by leaps from when Cannon played, who knows how that would have affected him. Casanova was definitely a great one but how many 300 yard passers did he have to deal with? it's really hard to compare...it would be easier if you picked one guy for each decade.

I don't see how Albert Belle has not been on this list, despite the fight in the crowds of Alex Box! haha. He was THE best baseball player in a long time!
