Do you mean Hal Hunter? Seriously this thread should be a sticky because it seems to come up at least monthly.
The LSU-Auburn series has been very quirky as of late, and has been solid for quite a long time. I look at them as our rival. I love it when we go up against Tommy "Two Ears" and his Tiggers/War Eagles/Plainsmen/etc. The LSU-Ole Miss series has tradition but has faded the past 30-40 years. Tulane and other in-state schools have it in for us, but they can shove off.
Arkansas because the makings are there, holiday and the boot. traditionally it has always been Ole Miss and Bama. In days of old, from the Paul D and Cholly mac, Bear Bryant era. This auburn thing is a johnny come lately rivalry.
It has to be Auburn, something crazy happens just about every time:BS call on PAT, 5 missed FG, Surprise onside kick on opening kickoff, Twillie's int. in endzone on last play of game, AU field house burning/ defensive 2pt conversion, Jaime Howrad interception party, earthquake game, etc. etc. etc. Plus there's always a lot at stake. Hell, even Ohio St.-Michigan can't compete with this drama *NOTE* Ole Miss thinks there our rival, but that been a one way street for a few years now.
That is what we believe, but it is hard to make that argument when LSU is the one who wanted to cancel the series in the first place. Nobody here, unless they work for the athletic department, truly knows exactly what went on.
Buckeye Fan, I'm probably older than your Mom, so you can take it from me that LSU's true rival is Tulane University in New Orleans. You may not have heard much from those Green Scum lately, because we destroyed the legitimacy of their football program long ago, and our rival Tulane barely exists any longer. Hell, we ran those Greenies clear out of the Conference. You Buckeyes should do the same to your rival, the Michigan Wolverines. You'd probably like to do that, but your program is not strong enough to do to YOUR rival what WE did to OURS. Too bad for you, Buckeye. :tigerhead
Texas Tech is in current negotiations to move their home and home series with tamu to Dallas for some major $$'s. LSU should supplant tamu in this arrangement with the 12th game for each team. LSU could get some major $$'s, and a recruiting presence in the metroplex and beyond. TTU obtains the same. I imagine LSU would be more in line with taking players from utexas and tamu from a recruiting standpoint. That would weaken those schools along with ou, and that would benefit TTU.
You're probably not much older than me, but I would think for someone to be your rival you have to play them every year. And yes I know we're gonna start playing them again, but none of the players on either team will have the same emotion about this game anymore. I truly beleive Tulane has been replaced by Auburn.
