I'm not buying the executive experience counts more. Truman, none, good pres. Kennedy, none, good pres. Johnson, none, fair pres. except Viet Nam decisions were horrible, one term Nixon, none, bad pres. Ford, none, fair pres. Ike, Allied Commander, good pres. Carter, governor, poor pres. Reagan, governor, good pres. Bush I, CIA Director, fair pres. except on economy, cost himself re-election Clinton, governor, good pres., especially on fiscal responsibility and economy Bush II, governor, bad pres., especially on fiscal irresponsibility, Iraq "executive experience" is something you make up to run on if you don't have anything else.
i know we've had threads on this but i dont think ike ever came up. nixon>ike>ford. but sort of a moot point considering neither have it, right? if the GOP thought it was so important they wouldnt have decided on mccain. they did have at least one other good option.
enlighten me obviously i know many other people have a big role on what happens--forming a platform, but we know that mccain wanted two others first but they were nixed (by someone, who knows who? dr evil?) so he picked palin out of desperation. almost reckless, like saying "what the hell?, she IS a breath of fresh air." if he's such a maverick why did he let others tell him who to chose? he didnt let them change his mind on the surge and that worked out for him. why now? bigger stakes? i dont know this about obama. i do know that he didnt cower to the clintonites, to get them to come to the fold. hillary still owes a chunk of change from the campaign. if the shoe were on the other foot, would mccain have done every thing he could just to unite the party so he could get elected? sort of like changing views on a few key issues? and i do know that he writes his speeches. at least the big ones. just like reagan did.
The LEFT wants you to believe that Sarah Palin was a last minute pick out of desperation. I heard talk about her back in March, and she was actually vetted way back in April, long before the Hillary vs. Barack battle was settled.
What Chip said. She was on the list and she was vetted like every other VP possibility. I'm sure there were anti-Lieberman, Ridge, etc voices among McCain's inner circle but those were just pieces of info to consider. HE is the candidate and HE made the final decision. Maybe Leno got it right when he said "McCain picked Palin because he didn't want to get CPR from Romney". As for trying to spin Obama's Clinton snub into a positive, IMO the only motive was to remove Hillary from the scene lest she be another thorn in his side in 4 years (provided he wins the election which he won't). Speaking of Hillary, I'd love to know what her innermost thoughts are about this new woman on the block. :hihi:
 a guy who graduate harvard law and president of the law review a Affirmative Action candidate..... get a load of that.
You thought I was a Democrat once and now you think I'm a Clinton fan? Son, you need to pay more attention.
