    What he meant to say was an authoritarian government controlled by the Chinese Communist Party, which is not communist at all.:huh:

    The government is completely and totally communist! They have been forced to allow Chinese commerce to join a global free market, but the government is as communist as they come.

    I don't think communism is inherently bad, it just doesn't work.

    China learned a valuable lesson by watching the Soviet Union crumble under the weight of economic pressures. Their ideology is no different, but they have come to understand that they must carry on trade with the West in order build strength by funding the government. The Soviets let their dogma blind them from this reality. We simply outspent them. Even Gorbachev agrees with that. China is trying not to let that happen, and so far, they're succeeding.

    And don't be so sure Putin hasn't learned the lesson, as well. Putin leading post-Soviet Russia would be like having Albert Speer running Germany in the 1950s.

    It's a subjective opinion. It might work for whoever likes it. It has nothing to do with being bad...

    It doesn't work as a system of governance because it doesn't reflect the true nature of man. It's probably too centralized, federalized.
