Ryan's plan is not a workable compromise. It slashed Medicare, replaced it with a coupon, put the risk back on the elderly and will be an anchor around the republicans neck in 2012. The middle class who need medicare aren't going to take a slash like that while the idle rich get to keep their tax cuts.

The question is still out there though, Obama still hasn't spent as much as Bush did. Where were you people then? It was all fine and good when your boy was spending like a gold digger with a new AMEX black. But the guy you don't like spends, and he is the worst president ever.

But it didn't work. Bush cut the taxes without cutting spending. The idea was that it would force government to cut programs. But it didn't. Instead they just borrowed money and added new programs . . . and Bush was worse than Congress about it!

No, first you cut the program, then you cut its funding. And programs that can't be cut any further must be paid for . . . even if taxes must be raised.

Yes. We know. Obama has done nothing but continue the same crap. Only he's making Bush look like a cheapskate. Obama needs to do more than say that it's Bush's fault and we're on the right track. We clearly are not on the right track. The polls are beginning to show a serious dissatisfaction with Obama's policies to get the economy back on track.

Yes Obama spent less in two years than Bush did in eight. What is your point?

Most folks were complaining that Bush was spending too much.

I don't think I have ever seen anyone defend the horrible spending of Bush, but even though it was the worst spending run up to that point in history it is dwarfed by what Obama is doing. Bush's set some impressive deficit records but Obama has blown them out of the water. Bush's largest deficit was 430 billion dollars. Obama's smallest budget deficit was 3 times that.

And Obama has done the same thing. He cut taxes and massively increased spending. If it was terrible in 01 and 03 it is far worse now just in terms of scale. Bush was terrible and Obama is more terrible.

Not exactly. Obama wants to cut the borrowing and identifies tax revenues and tax savings for his spending. The Congress won't cut anything as long as they are allowed to borrow. Make them pay for new spending with new taxes and don't let them cut taxes without cutting programs first. They will soon find the proper balance point between taxes and spending.

Obama wants a lot of stuff. He needs to get off of his ass and do something.

He wasted his first year getting the Obamacare debacle passed and since then as done nothing but blame Bush for our current, worsening, problems.

    But Bin Laden is dead.

    Rand Paul did.

It's fairly simple to look at revenue then look at expenses. Then cut everything.

    This isn't brain surgery.
