i am not particularly interested in the science of it. i am interested in the politics. there are lots of scientific issues that are debated, almost none of which are discussed here. string theory, parallel universes, the god particle, all manner of crap. yunno why dont discuss those? because they are non-political. well, for me, global warming is also not political. i do not want to pass anything or take any action. i feel the same way about globwal warming that i do about any other science, issue, like whether there is water on mars. it is interesting, but not political. but if you are on the side of the debate that says that we are doomed as a species unless we take action, you either favor action, or you simply dont give a **** about humanity. i simply doint give a ****. and neither does anyone else. but everyone else lies.
Well, the reverse is true for me. You are soooo confused! You say you are interested in the politics of global warming then you say it is not political. Methinks you just like to hear yourself talk. There is no politics in science. You either accept science as accurate or you challenge it as inaccurate, there is no politics involved. Got it? Now there are politics involved in the debates on what we should do about global warming. I have already discussed these at length. I tire of rehashing old topics for your benefit. why this issue and not some other random science issue? the reason is that there is an enormous amount of baggage with this issue. it is a huge political issue that i think demonstrates some interesting things about human nature. this issue is like religion in many ways, not just for the dogmatic nature of it, but for the sins of man garden of eden guilt and armageddon stuff. correct. i am interested by how you think this issue matters even though deep down you realize it is irrational for you to care, and you dont actually give a damn. i am interested by how much people lie to themselves. i am interested in how aware people are of when they are caring about something for the sake of how they get to think of themselves, how they view the world through the lens of who they wish they were. again, you do not seem to understand why this issue is being discussed here, as opposed to some some issue that actually is purely scientific. we are not debating the existence of the god particle higgs boson or whatever. because there is no real baggage there. this is a wildly political issue, and you know it. if the sciene is true, and you claim it is, and we also claim to care about the human species (and i do not) then it is necessarily a political issue. this is what you cant admit, because it exposes your position as political. or you dont actually care about the future (which you dont, but will not admit). yes that is the rub, thats why the science cannot be trusted. a scientist that is in the game purely for knowledge probably would not go into climate science. the whole issue is ruined, you can only trust people who dont want to take political actiion. nothing. but i actually am a better person than everyone else. if only fort admitting that i am terrible.
