What about Lane Mestepey pitching about 90 innings against the Green Slime in the Super Regional (even though we lost)?

Yeah, the 2000 team was awesome. There was a camaraderie on that team that is very often lost to individual achievements. I miss those guys, they were so much fun

I know we won the first game against the slime with Mestepey, but didn't Skip put him in game 3 as well?

I'm gonna go waaay back for mine. Pastimer, glad to see there is another old timer on here.
1-Mike Miley-One of the best ballplayers and nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. Absolute tragedy what happened to him. I remember there was a young girl, 15 0r 16 yrs. old that was absolutely in love with Mike and would come to every game with something for him to sign. He always took time to sign them and talk with her. She would absolutely be on air and just cry her heart out with infatuation. I've often wondered how she reacted to his death.
The most memorable moment I have about Mike is he hit a game winnng homer across Nicholson dr. to beat Bama. I promise you the ball landed in Tiger stadium parking lot.

2-Tommy (Bombo) Saizan-As gutty and hard working little catcher a coach could ask for. If you needed a hit, Bombo was the guy you wanted at the plate. Rocket arm. Only one or two guys were successful stealing against him. Great team leader.

3-Larry Wright-One word describes Larry-SPEED! If it was hit any where he could catch it, it was in his glove. I believe he is still the all time steal leader at LSU. For a little guy, he had good power at the plate as well.

4-Pat Moock-12-0 in the SEC Championship year of 1975. Wicked curve.

5-Paul Stefan-If we had a closer like him today, this team would be damn near unbeatable! Could pitch everyday and had it all.

I picked these guys because I knew them. I loved all those guys from that time because they made the fans feel like part of the team. At that time we were drawing maybe 150-200 people a game and the fans and team were more intimate because it was the same people all the time. These guys played their hearts out when LSU bb was not what it is today and I love 'em for it. If any of you guys are reading this, THANK YOU!!!!
And I left a bunch out. Mike Croswell, Randall Aldridge, Steve Frank, Dom Giambrone, Pat Whealy,Guy Hollingsworth, Greg Frerrara, etc.
