If you mean Tubby Smith at Kentucky, that's not even a comparison. Tubby Smith has won a NC at UK and again consistently has UK in the Top 25. Brady hasn't done anything close to that. And if you mean Tommy Tuberville at AU, well he won at Ole Miss and that in itself is pretty impressive. But then he went 13-0 in the SEC something I didn't think a team could do. And as much as we harrass and poke fun at AU for not being considered for the NC, it really is a slap in the face of the SEC. That a team in arguably the best conference in the country goes undefeated and does not get a chance to play for the national championship is really, really sad. Tubby consistently has Auburn competing for the SEC title and is consistently ranked in the Top 25. Brady hasn't even come close to reaching the top of the basketball world and has been consistently disappointing in the end of season collapses of his teams.
lol @ the thread... you're funny tubby has a NC and brady has... a win in the second round of the ncaa's tubby wins the sec tournament all the time, and brady... almost won it once... but lost to tubby... that's like comparing saban and houston nutt...
He has not won any National or SEC when he was at Georgia. However, in his two seasons there he went 45-19 and had one Sweet Sixteen appearance with one appearance against Kentucky in the SEC Championship game. In addition he took Tulsa to the Sweet Sixteen TWICE in four years there as a head coach. John Brady's squad has performed (and will hopefully continue to perform) very well this year. In no way, however, does that fact make Brady a better coach than Tubby Smith as is evident in his success both at and away from Kentucky.
In most other years would you agree that tubby has had the better team and better talent? If yes, then how does that tell you that the better coach is not even a question?
Did you not see LSU play UAB last year? That was the worst coaching performance ever. Brady is not even in Tubbs league. Its shows how bad he has done with the program when LSU has not yet even cracked the top 25 and people are thinking he is doing a great job. When LSU's basketball program has been on par with Louisiana-Lafayette and UAB I think compairing Brady to Tubbs is a little far fetched.
I agree with mpadow on the fact that brady did show one of the poorest coaching efforts ive ever seen in the uab game. Especially considering mike anderson was running a carbon copy of Nolan Richardsons game plan which brady had seen before. And i also agree that Brady is not on Tubbys level. However the fact that lsu is just barely cracking the top 25 is not a reflection on his coaching because this team is good and exciting to watch and it has just taken the voters a little while to recognize this. Polls are meaningless, people are excited because they see the potential of this team.
