here’s what I think: the dems move very quickly and the house votes to impeach In the senate they vote to have the articles of impeachment dismissed as allowed for in the senate rules, and the senate does so with a simple majority everyone wins in this scenario except for us. trump has his message: the bastards tried to impeach me! The left has their message: we tried to impeach the bastard but he wiggled away thanks to Moscow Mitch...vote for us and we’ll get the bastard! the gop continues to haul in record donations thanks to impeachment. the dems hope to do so too thanks to impeachment. they’ve gone too far to turn back now so it’s impeachment or bust..... all chips to the middle for the Rachel Maddow wing of the party to match the gop fundraising efforts or at least blunt the money disadvantage so, as a result, both trump and the dems have their 2020 message to get people to vote: impeachment in the interim, nothing gets done for infrastructure, trade agreement, etc, and they’re excused for it because everyone is focused on impeachment Washington doesn’t even have to go through the pretense of doing things it’s almost like they worked it out...
For what? He has not operated outside of the law or the office. He is allowed to talk to other leaders you know, just like every President before him. Shane my comment was an observation about timing. Note I my first comment in this thread was agreeing that we should wait for the election not go through impeachment. However impeachment is a political NOT a criminal process. While most impeachment’s have found crimes to use as a tool they were first and foremost political. Clinton and Andrew Johnson were purely political. Nixon wasn’t actually impeached as he resigned. However I believe it started as a political effort before his own crimes were exposed. Point is it’s political and they’ll find a crime to charge him if they go through with it.
