Just due to the turnoil that Bama's been through, the way he was a last minute hire, plus the sanctions and injuries, no way Bama fires Shula very soon in my opinion.
Shula will survive with an 8-3 record with at least one win over a team likeLSU, UT or Auburn. Anything less and he is history. There are already people on talk radio shows that want him gone, knowing that he is not the long term fix for Alabama. Of course, there was a guy on the radio on Monday comparing him to Bob Stoops. No one ever said you had to be smart to be a Bama fan.
Disagree, he won't be fired this year if he does not reach 8-3. The radio talk doesn't mean anything, they had that after his first game.
And you may very well be right. Just my opinion, from listening to the rumblings here in B'ham. Bama fans tend to have unrealistic expectations these days. I don't expect to see Shula in T'town past 2006, UNLESS he makes it to Atlanta and beyond by then, which I doubt. LSU, Auburn, Arkansas and possibly Mississippi State will have too much for them by then.
Lord knows they have had them since the Bear retired. I just think the administration has looked in the mirror and found that they can't just keep going through coaches at the rate of 1 per year or two.
Never underestimate the stupidity of the University's admin. They have just sued an alum that is a famous artist (Daniel A. Moore) that has painted famous scenes from Alabama football for years. This is the guy who painted the Bear Bryant stamp. They have sued him over copyright infringement of the Crimson and White uniforms. Not over logos, but colors. Long story, I will post some links if anyone is interested.
That doesn't surprise me at all. One of my friends got a cease and desist order from LSU for putting LSU Colors and a logo on birthday/party cakes, even though he bought officially licensed logo trinkets. Seems that LSU looks at that as selling it twice and them only getting the money once. And of course they didn't bother to ask him if he were willing to pay them the 10 cent royalty fee which he would gladly had paid. He wouldn't make on e now if they paid him the fee.
