this defense is not playing up to their standards...end of discussion. Saban is just such an unbelievable defensive schemer that he puts players in positions to make plays. This team has the best defense in the nation. Holding the three teams that they have held to 34 points is good but not as good as it could have been. If our defensive backs caught a third of the interceptions that have hit them in the hands LSU would have held all three opponents to 10 points or less. How many times did we see a missed tackle on a play last season? Probably not as many as we have seen in a single game this year. LSU played two of the best backs in the nation, no doubt, but stopping on a play or running up with head ducked down and trying to arm tackle is not what Saban or anyone for that matter teaches. LSU has such superior athletes to everyone that they have played so far on both sides of the ball that no game should be have even been close. That being said the defense has saved the offense time and time again and the offense is at fault for the loss.

    Eh, being semi-sarcastic.

I don't fear the Moo defense, but our offense needs to pull something together.

LSU led the country in scoring defense last year holding opponents to 11 points a game. So far this year we are holding opponents to . . . 11 points a game. This defense is playing good enough to win. All the offense has to do is average more than 11 points a game.

Only reason the game was close was the defense. Defense missed a few INTs for TDs and some tackles but they were on the field all day long and it was horribly hot. I was at the game and did not get the commentary of the announcers or the espn crew etc and I have not read a paper or article on the game. Horrible offense and a bad call or two were the reasons for the loss. Actually the call shouldnt have been a factor because the game should not have been that close. Craig Davis could have dove for 2 passes that were catchable, 2 QB system, dropped passes, horrible special teams and especially punting and some horrible play calling were the difference. How bad do we miss Donnie Jones now? I couldnt believe what I saw on Saturday and it made for a long trip home on Sunday. I have not read the site yet and this is my first rant on the game so bear with me.

Couldn't be more correct, Red55. The defense gave up 10 points, the last seven, I am sure, from absolute exhaustion. They were on the field quite a bit on Saturday. Nothing wrong with our defense that I can see, although minor improvements here and there wouldn't hurt.

Sloppy field conditions hampered our defense in the first game. Yes, Oregon St. had to endure the same weather conditions, but I'm pretty sure, position-for-position, our defense is just as fast, if not faster, than any other defense in the country. Wet fields will wreck havic on a speedy defense--makes getting your footing difficult.

This week, poor tackling was KILLER!!!! THIS was the worst tackling effort I've seen in years. But for all of their missed tackles, they came out in the second half and, minus the scoring drive to put Auburn up for good, they really held Williams and Brown in check.

I'm willing to bet our defense ran form tackling drills till they puked today!!!
