Let's see......gave up a grand total of 10 points to a top 15 team in the nation on the road who have 2 of the best running backs in the nation (both top 10, IMO). Yeah that was horrible. :dis: :dis: :dis:
I really think we have been spoiled after last year. I must admit I was disappointed in the missed tackles though. BUT Overall our defense did play pretty well, they just aren't where we were last year yet.
i thought they did. in the first half Williams rushed for 70 yards....the second half....5 yards. not too shabby
Webster will be the very first person to tell you he isn't playing nearly as welll this season. I think Jesse Daniels at Free Safety has definitely not stepped up. The winning touchdown pass was his responsibility. He was once again way out of position. It looks as though Hunt's loss may prove to be the biggest on the D side of the ball.
Don't Hang This Loss on the Defense.... Anytime you hold an opponent to 10 points, you should win...period. We lost today because of our inability to execute the passing game. 12 for 28 simply will not cut it in the SEC, or any other major conference. 6 of those 12 completions were in the first quarter, I think. Marcus Randall should not have been replaced after the first drive. I believe that sapped his confidence, broke his momentum, etc. That being said, it looks like Russell is our future, simply becuase of his upside. Sometime in the near future he will stop missing open receivers and start making big time plays. Fortunately, we have Moo St. next week and an opportunity to beat Georgia in a game that will probably be very similar to the one today. Florida will present big time problems for us because of their athletic ability. If we miss tackles like we did today, they will make us pay dearly. The remainder of the schedule falls pretty good for us, so an excellent season is still attainable. It will all depend on Russell's development. ldskule:  :geaux:
Yes, we blitzed big time on that play. As I recall, we had four Tigers in Campbell's face and he got crushed just as he released it. He managed to get the ball to a spot 13 yards past the line of scrimmage and their receiver came back to get it. It was really an amazing play for them. When I saw the ball leave Campbell's hand, I said "no way he completes this one!" It was incredible that the ball got to where it needed to be and at the right time. The Tigers did not, however, blitz on their touchdown pass. I was screaming at the tv for a blitz!
To me, the defense has been very solid. They gave up only 14 points to Oregon St (in regulation), Ark St. doe snot really count, and they gave up only 10 points to Auburn. There are a couple exceptions though. Players have missed sometackles at key points in the game. This needs to be resolved. Also I can not help but notice that Corey Webster is very tired as the game progresses. We need him to stick with just defense. Not defense, offence, and special teams.
We've given up 33 points in 3 games and you are questioning our defense?? Your eyes must be closed when we have the football...
Our defense is carrying us right now. Our offense really stinks right now. We had many chances to put Auburn away and we did not. If our offense can start scoring at least 2 td's a game, we will be OK.
