We survived. Although I really think that broussard should have been in there on that final drive. Sadly my coaching salary is still at $0.
Against a slanting defense you want players that can cutback... Quicker backs like Vincent, Carey, and Addai... FightinTIGER...Go take a Qualuude... Broussard isn't the same level of cutback runner that the other three are... You need to pay more attention to the articles and scoop and the preview stories people put out... You put a cutback runner in against a slanting-oriented defense. You know that!
From what I’ve seen so far this year, LSU played its best three games of the year against – South Carolina, Auburn, and La Tech – with both Addai and Carey on the bench. Now that those two running backs have returned and coach Saban has infused them back into the offense, it looks to me that LSU is reverting back to playing like they played before the Florida loss. My suggestion, leave those two guys as the backups and let Vincent and Broussard be your workhorses. Sometimes the addition of just one or two guys can completely disrupt the chemistry and continuity of your whole offense. I think that’s what’s happening to LSU.
Perhaps he should have... FightinTIGER...are you going to stand by the statement that, "a slanting defense doesn't mean shit..."? I am SO wanting you to do that... I have a lifetime of coaches, and a few friends who still put on the P&G, and they will tell you that different defenses dictate different styles out of running backs... Please, tell me that doesn't matter...I need another laugh...
I do agree with fighteducated about playing Vincent adn Carey and Addai. Against thier Defense we needed Quicker backs
OK....I'm going to ask you a question... Was it incorrect to put slashing, cutback types of backs in for the majority of the game against this scheme on defense? In other words, is a brusing back the best back to use against a slanting defense in comparison to a cutback type of runner?
I have to agree with Fightingtiger here. I want a big back in on short yardage situations. Damn the touchdown against alabama ought to verify that. Yes cutback runners are good against a slanting attack but i do agree our gameplan was horrible for this game. Against a small quick defense we should have been attacking straight at them. Whatever happenned to the quick slant to clayton and we didnt throw to a back the whole game. I think we owe this one to the defense and have to look at our game plan better for Arkansas. We had no plan of attack. The bootleg was a horrible call all day. There defensive ends were staying at home and the delay type plays were giving their quickness time to react. And just because we won does not mean we cant learn from this and make ourselves a better team buy looking at what happenned. I congratulate the Tigers for a hard fought effort and any win at an opponents field is great. Keep improving and lets stay focused. My hats off to Ole Miss and they played with heart and were just overmatched. Geaux Tigers
Cool, now I don't have to type all this in. I think he read my mind... Go straight at a team with a fast but weaker line. Push them straight back and hit the hole quickly. Don't give the ball to the RB 25 yards in the back field and have him file his nails before he hits the hole. Damn it was frustrating. But a W is a W and I am one HAPPY Tiger fan.
