Coming from someone who was stationed in Maine and Virginia for years a lot of Northerners still feel the southern states, its people and way of life is inferior to them and theirs. Not all but enough to make you feel it in a condascending way more than not.
I tried the link provided but got nothing on this reported beating. It would seem that something would be on some news report somewhere. If it really happened, someone is going through great lengths to hide it.
Yes, this 'stuff' really happened. to quote his wife, " I just left the hospital to try to let us rest. After several sorts of trauma/ER teams at UPMC Presbyterian (I think there were 6) examined him up and down, they've deducted that 1) He has no brain injury, though his frontal bone is fractured right in the middle of his forehead, yet it will heal on its own, 2) He has a shattered bone in his eye socket that needs replacing with a couple of screws and a plastic plate? but his vision is good, 3) His nose is severely broken but will somehow be straightened out, 4) His shoulder is NOT broken but feels as though it is, and 5) No one can break his sense of humor. So many precautions were taken and tests were done today that the surgery will be tomorrow. I am very sore but holding a precious boy on my lap, one in my tummy, and the other in my heart. These boys are my life that I cannot imagine without them. [her husbands]' first words when his friends walked in, "HOW 'BOUT THEM TIGERS?!" As I said, I still don't know if it was a WVU fan or if he was mugged. I will update when appropriate.
I suppose this wouldn't necessarily be reported in their local news, especially when they devoted so much time and space on efforts to prevent couch burning. :geauxtige
These are the sorts of things that make the news. It could of happened, and if it did, that is terrible. But .. you would be seeing pleas from law enforcement for someone to come forward with some information ... with a big monetary reward.
Members of my family attended the game in Morgantown (they also went to Dallas), and my uncle just told me that their "Fans and tailgaters were nice and hospitable. Pleasantly surprised. Quite a few missing teeth though."
The northern teams seem to be the only ones who riot when they win a world championship. LA lakers, Detroit Pistons, Denver Broncos. I've worked in seattle and never had any problems with the people. they seemed nice enough, but i wasn't at a game. I'm surprised to hear all the stories about seahawks fans being violent. i thought that was philly's problem only?
I live in Seattle, and we had issues with some fans at the Seahawks game. Something could have escalated quickly, and I know we were not the only ones. When I went to LSU-UW game did not have any issues at all, if not for a lot of people wanting to try some Jambalaya. Different audiences I guess.
