Cajdav1.....I plan to post an analysis of our D tomorrow, assuming I survive the verbal onslaught.

For what it's worth, my analysis was more in the vain of what to look for, not an attempt to try & taut us as unbeatable.

    Not To Worry

    Owenfieldreams,

There are those in all of these type of forums that are completely out of their minds.

Believe me, there are those of us that appreciate your correspondence and look forward to the back and forth. You must learn to ignore the mentally crippled.

Clearly something terribly wrong happened in their childhoods that is going to take years psychiatric treatment to correct, if at all possible in the first place.

Hang in there with the rest of us.

    thanks,
    Geek

    Re: Not To Worry

I guess I should join in on this mutual admiration society. Thank you Owenfieldreams for gracing us rookies with your wisdom. How disrespectful of me to take offense at your attempting to teach us johnny come latelys all about how to handle ourselves now that we are finally involved in a big game. Forgive me for taking umbrage at your pointing out that LSU hasn't been to this dance in 45 years. Tell us more, oh wise one. I will sleep fitfully as I await your dissertation on the mighty Oklahoma defense.
And Geekboy: Wear your crimson colors proudly.

Saban, how you have construed a simply effort to critique this Sooner team into an attempt to patronize anyone is beyond me. It's obvious that you have chosen to read my original post selectively, by extracting certain phrases & or statements & taking them out of context. Why, I do not know. If you're not interested than don't read it. What would be more interesting would be for you or some other knowledgeable Tiger fan to reciprocate with a detailed analysis of the '03 Tigers.

I guess that's asking too much.

I have no hidden agenda here. I'm excited about this matchup & have the utmost respect for L.S.U. I think it's going to be a tremendous contest between two excellent teams. Nothing I said @ the outset of this thread was deserving of the reaction by you & others here.

Regardless, hope you enjoy my critique of our D tomorrow. It'll be posted in good spirit, regardless of how anyone chooses to receive it.

Ramah, I assume you're still waiting on my reply to your questions revolving around the merits of a ZONE D vs MAN?

Just about every team we played this year ran a little of both against us. They'd ZONE our Trips' & MAN us on the opposite side. Sometimes they'd zone us 2-deep but man us @ the corners. Not withstanding your opinion of the Big 12, we've seen some pretty solid Man DB's including Nathan Vasher, among others.

If we establish at least a semblance of a run game forcing you to honor the box, I expect us to hit a few over the top against your MAN or anyone's MAN for that matter.

In the final analysis, this game is going to be decided by what each team does best, play D. I'll touch on ours tomorrow.

Don't stay up too late watching game film. You'll need to have all your facilties tomorrow when I STOOPify you with D philosophy, Sooner style.

It's people like you that make me want to pull for OU.
Sadly they have asses like you in their forums also.

I already did analysis on another post but I'll copy and paste it here for you.
Geek boy I'm sure no one would care if you "wanted" to pull for the sooners.

I think the real key to the game is the line. In the trenches who will dominate. You touched on it slighty. Who's line can push who off the ball? Who has the size, speed and strength to do that? Another key will be no mistakes, any mistakes will be deadly. You ask can the OU line protect JW? That is a key for the OU offense. Can the OU defense smoother the LSU run? That will be a key to your defense setting up your offesne.

I think at first the OU defense will come out pumped and LSU probably won't have many long gains on the ground. I look for a defensive struggle the first half, BUT THEN as your defense wears down in the second half look for the LSU offense to open up BIG holes for our backs. Some would say well that works both ways but The thing is our DEFENSE will wear you down. If a first half defensive struggle takes place JW MAY not be sturdy enough ( not hurt just rattled ) to be effective during the game.

Now I know we all want to dismiss the KSU game, but things don't change overnight and all the greatest coaching in the world can't make a QB's legs UN wobbly when he is hit constantly. The LSU offensive line is among the best in the nation. Oh sure ya'll are going to get some damn good defensive plays no doubt, especially in the first half, but on a few of those occasions Clayton will be open, Devry will be on a post route, Skylar will be open across the deep middle. Look for Justin to score the points in the second half.

I truly belive OU is a good team, I also truly believe UGA was just as good. The BIGGEST thing the OU team is trying to tell themselves and the nation is that KSU was a fluke. I really hope they do that because KSU was no fluke, those guys are GOOD. No disrespect intended to OU. What LSU needs to do in this mind game before the NC game is LISTEN to coach Saban and they have done that for the last 7 games in a row.
LSU is for real this year folks 2004 Its time. finally it's time!
    GEAUX TIGERS
HEy have a great new year !

    Ditto, You are so right!!!!!

IMOP OU has already peaked, its never good to lose late in the
season much less your last game, much less next game is Sugar.
    Whether in college or pros.................................

I don't know how Nick Saban does it, his LSU teams always peak
    at the right times.

The one exception was last year and lets face it with KEY injuries
we had there was nothing that could be done.

We weren't Deep enough then to overcome it.

I just hope all the rumors are true about OU, it will make great bulletin board material, and give more incentive to beat the crap out of OU.

    ~C~O~O~L~ ~H~A~N~D~ ~L~U~K~E~ ... you got nothin'

took you long enough to answer (I'm drinking coffee the next AM)and this is what we get from you. It's still a zone defense ... and an entirely different philosophy. They play a wide cushion and they are not physical against receivers. You throw one name in the entire Big 12 ... a thorpe award finalist just like webster and a guy that's half a step slower than our guys ... and how many "DEEP ROUTES" did he beat Vasher on ... I know how many Did White have time throw it at Texas ... ~A~L~L~ ~D~A~Y~

... no pressure on him ... 6 turnovers ... and Texas with a hapless offense and defense crumbled ... 65-13 ... OU's shining glory ... big phuckking deal ... Ark beat Texas by 10, LSU stomped Ark., we're not impressed ... and Saban would have had the class to call off the dogs ... not smart to run up scores. Then, that's a matter of class.

At the end of the Texas game ... the homers started chanting Overrated ...

MY, MY, MY ... how the worm has turned for OU.

we now know who's really overrated ... and there's no escaping.

    1. There will be NO OU RUNNING GAME. It will be snuffed out early

    2. White will pass 50+ times ... LOL ... if he can get up 49+ times

    3. LSU will bring the heat ... like White has never seen ...

    4. There will be NO TIME ... DEEP ROUTES ... LOL.

    5. White's play action won't fool anyone at LSU

    6. OU's formations are too easy to spot ... even my nephew guesses right 3 out of 4 ... just a 15 year old kid watching FB

IT'S ALL ABOUT PERSONNEL ... you've bullied the Big 12 hapless defenses ... you've caved in to the tough guys.

OU is outmatched here by a stronger and faster LSU.

The only song you get is a LULL-A-BYE.

The BAMA game is OU's REAL SPEED ... the one that will show up in the Dome. You probably won't even score ... just like BAMA ... unless you like style points ... they scored 3 to save face late in the 4th. Saban will give you that ... even though he could easily pitch White a SHUTOUT.
