i didnt mean to imply that you lie, i meant what i said, that you were unskilled at deciding what is true and what isnt. i hear you man, and that is unfortunate. i want public schools to work, because i like the idea of them. and part of what mnakes schools work is when smart kids go to them. it helps schools to have smart kids attend them and talk to other smart kids. whan i was a kid i dont know that my schools were that good, but i was happy because the other kids were smart and fun to hang around with. i think it is sad to see the state of things when the smart kids no longer go public schools. thats when things are really finished. i would no longer send my kids to public schools if all the other kids there are morons. it is a slippery slope for sure.
This is a double-edged sword. The smart kids will no longer be smart if the teacher has to reduce the amount of material presented so the slower kids can keep up. This is a disservice to the smart kids. It has been proven over time that putting smart kids with slower kids does not make the slower kids smarter, but dumbs down the smart kids. At the same time, it is sad that I don't feel comfortable sending my kids to public school. Especially since I went to public school for HS. And the reasons for not sending my kids to public school go beyond the abysmal quality of education. It also goes to social environment. If I lived in Texas, I would consider sending my kids to a local public school. They seem to be doing something right over there. Wonder why we can't do that here?
dumb kids might slow classes in elementary school, but in high school the smart kids can take better classes. me, being stupid at some things, didnt bring down the smart kids in calculus, i just didnt take calculus. in general though i dont really worry about the dumb kids bringing down the smart kids. because smart kids can find something to occupy themselves, particularly really motivated smart kids. i like the idea of sending dumb and smart kids to the same schools (in the same classes). actually i mostly like neighborhood schools. i do not like that in high school had to get up before dawn to be bussed to the ghetto. plus race integration was a farce, the gifted and regular programs at my school were totally separate. i guess the problem with neighborhood schools is they will never perform equally, because there is a reason poor neighborhoods are poor, their people are stupider.
oooooh snap, that's right around my age. i think martin is an old timer though, class or 92 or something.
And neighborhood schools, and better quality teachers and principals because the pay is better. The State and City of NO have an opportunity to really reform the public schools in NO, but it won't happen. There is a chance to build anew, and setup a model after one of the more successful urban school systems. But it won't happen. Too much politics, too much I in TEAM, pitiful leadership. Shall I continue? Nobody is interested in longterm results accompanied with a paradigm shift from the crap we have today. This is one reason why the charter schools are opening and showing success. Ingenuity in the classroom. The ACLU is deadset against it. As long as its broke, and they keep giving us money to try and fix it, we can leave it broken, and keep getting the extra funding. SWEET!!!
i am old enough to be her father. actually not quite that old. stop ruining my chance to be an ageless faceless anonymous character.
Awesome! You REALLY need to either run for office or be a part of a spin machine - that is some of the most eloquent reset I have EVER heard... :thumb:
