OK, no Jews or blacks (4%), but do the math: 64K white 40K chinese 35K indian 30K mexican 22K not determined race 15K filipinos 5K multiracial no one group is more than 30% many of the undetermined are afghans (the largest afghan % of any city in the US), which are predominantly Muslim. There is a mosque 1/3 mile from my house. pretty diverse if ya ask me.
fine, but they stopped teaching kids to learn phonics and now are teaching word memorization. also writing is de-emphasized because "everyone will use a computer anyway".
1) my son is 4 and started kindergarten this monday. we visited 3 public schools several months ago (shenandoah elem, westdale heights magnet, and wedgewood) and we were told that east baton rouge parish no longer teaches phonics. since my son does not yet know how to read, we felt it was more advantageous although tougher on the pocketbook to send him to a private school so that he could learn how to read.
well i guess i learn something new every day. i didnt even know there was a controversy, but i read about it and i guess there is a movement to teach "whole language" vs phonics. of course i dont believe anything you say, so i doubt that EBR schools dont teach phonics at all. if they really didnt cant you teach the little christians phonics at home? public schools are good because you dont want that kid to miss out on the darkie culture and send him/her to the insular world of whitey entitlement, thinking he is too good to slum it with the porch monkeys.
6 years. and you are right i dunno, but what i do know is that what you say is only random correlated with reality. nothing against you really, it is just you arent good at truth. well, some people say that combination of phonics and the other thing works well. so phonics at home and the other thing at school might work. if he plays sports, ask him to get the the coach to let him have jersey number 157. that way people will ask why his number is so high and he can impress them with the answer.
this implies i lie, which is far from actuality. the best you can do is that sometimes i have been known to post rumors and unsubstantiated information. maybe, but its hard to get any individualized teaching with class sizes of 30+ which was the case at 2 of the 3 public schools we visited.
