Assuming JR returns, I think he has a great oppurtunity to put himself at least near the top of the Heisman list for next year on 1-3-07 against that "vaunted" ND secondary. I heard Corso throw his name in the mix the other night when everyone was talking about McFadden. Is Adrian Peterson already a senior? If not, don't forget about him. What I find funny is how the talking heads have already decided Quinn won't win the Heisman, but he will be the first QB if not the first player taken in the draft. Didn't they say the same thing about Leinhart? They have no clue, and all that is decided at the combines. I don't think Quinn is first pick material. MAYBE, and a big maybe, first ROUND material. Of course, he has the oppurtunity to change my mind 1-3-07. Personally I think he'll have a great night like Jason White did in New Orleans in January '04!:geauxtige
I agree, RP isnt going anywhere. That door is shut because it is too late to do that now. He will get 2 years as a starter with all his friends he helped bring to LSU.
id say never. when was the last sec winner? wuerfuel? some player from a more popular place will have better stats or their two great highlight plays put on tv more. i wouldnt bet on mcfadden yet. irons looked like he'd get it this year, too.
You beat me too it. That's exactly what I was thinking. The Heisman is given, mostly, to offensive players, and in a league where defense dominates, you don't see the gaudy numbers you do in the other conferences. Not since, really, Wuerfull or Manning...
I never said Miles would start him because of that. That comment was about him not transfering because it is not an option anymore.:thumb:
McFadden, along with Pat White/Steve Slaton at WVU, will be the prohibitive early favorites next year. I don't think McFadden will win mainly because I don't think Arkansas will have a repeat of their success this year. The Heisman now is very much defined as the best offensive player on a conference or MNC title contending team.
As for a Tiger Heisman, i think it will have to be a QB, why???? Becasue there are so many great teams and so much speed on defense that it is so hard to put up heisman type numbers as an RB or WR in the SEC, I know FLA and Spurrier did it but they were freakish, I dont think Macfadden will do it next year but that is just my opinion, but I do think he will be the top RB in that nation regardless of his stats. As for the RP debate, I think whoever starts at QB next year RP will get reps during the season, this will not be like Tebow, but Im thinking more like Shokley at UGA when Greene was a senior, bring him in for about 2 series per game to get him some reps in the SEC. However, if JR returns, Miles may be releuctant to do this if they are trying to pimp JR for the Heisman.
