After Gustav hit Baton Rouge I had no electricity for 11 days. It was way too hot to sleep inside with no air conditioning. For those 11 days I lived in my truck parked in my carport. I would go inside and take a cold shower and by the time I walked back outside i was soaking wet and needed another shower. It was too hot and humid to sleep except for a few minutes at a time when I was totally exhausted. Even though I drank tons of beer trying to pass out it didn't work.

After a few days there were a few businesses that got their power back on. In the mornings I would go to CC's coffee shop with my laptop and try to get a seat in the back corner. There, with the blessing of air conditioning I could fitfully sleep sitting up while pretending to surf the internet. After spending the mornings there I would go try to find enough beer, ice and whatever else I needed to get through another day. With no refrigeration I pretty much ate only peanut Butter and jelly or tuna sandwiches.

Then I would try to do as much cleanup work in my yard to pick up the broken tree branches and pile them up by the side of street until the heat made me feel like I was ready to collapse. That meant it was time to take another cold shower and try to find some clothes that were clean enought to wear in public. The French Quarter Daquiri place was open and had the blessin g of air conditioning, so I would drink daquris until they had to close at the 8 PM post hurricane curfew.

At this moment it is 28 degrees at my house and the prediction for tonight's low temp is 21. If there had been some disaster and I had no electricity at least I would be able to sleep in my own bed wrapped in a bunch of blankets and I would be a lot cleaner than I was after the hurricane because I wouldn't be sweating like a pig

It was 14 this morning in Plano. I guess school would be cancelled for a week down in Baton Rouge if it got that cold...

It hit 79 today with a nice breeze. Expected to drop a notch down to 78 tomorrow. I'd say that's about perfect, wouldn't you? :)

we got bags of ice so i can keep the ice water thingy that keeps my shoulder iced down full of ice and not have to wait on the ice maker to make more.

we stored them in the garage. no need to even put them in the freezer. just laid them next to the kitchen door where they are easy to get to. not a cube melted.

    thats just too damned cold!

Dropped to around 30 (maybe a little less)
Slight chance of snow. Snow hasn't actually hit the ground in Montegut since '89.
