Probably from those guys throwing their remnants out the window. The smoke made it to this side of the metroplex around 6 p.m. I woke up this morning and could still smell the smoke.
tell me about it. luckily after the winds shifted here, the fires north of me were contained and didnt get back out and come this way as fire officials feared.
crazy wind here yesterday too. 45-50 mph all day. Fires 10-15 miles to our south consumed ~4000 acres, one 15 miles to our west consumed 5000 acres. All in all, w/i a 50 mile radius of us, 25,000 acres burned. One couple was killed and numerous homes and businesses destroyed. Pray for rain. We've had 1.1" this year.
I couldn't get online till now because of a Jr high girl's sleepover at my house. :rolleye33:.I see the fires are a national story and are affecting lots of people. Two are dead now. I hope everyone in Tx and Ok are alright. My joke about grass fires is now officially in poor taste. I certainly didn't intend it that way.
if intentional, string the little rat bastards up! http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090410/ap_on_re_us/wildfires
as of right now (6:45pm), 108 degrees w/ not a cloud in the sky. Not a lot of humidity, but having lived in south La for 40 years, humidity doesn't mean anything when it gets like this. Ugh!
It hovered between 102-106 this afternoon in Plano, with a strong south wind. I have a feeling we're going to be in for one of those super-hot summers in North Texas, like '98 or '00. I'm getting outta Dodge on Tuesday until the 25th--so I can go "cool off" in South Louisiana. I know, good luck with that!
im leaving either monday afternoon or tuesday morning. i knew i was home when i got out of my truck in nola today and my sunglasses steamed over. :thumb:
