That's incorrect, as martin has shown. That's incorrect, too. Atheism is not a knowledge claim, but a state of nonbelief. Since agnostics have no belief in a god they're a subset of all atheists.
Of course it is. What nonsense. A bad analogy. Stating the obvious about a known phenomenon in no way equates with the direct relationship between disbelief and denial. You, martin, are an agnostic in atheists clothing. The terms are synonymous. de·ni·al A refusal to accept or believe something, such as a doctrine or belief. A refusal to grant the truth of a statement or allegation. dis·be·lief Refusal or reluctance to believe. Again an example that does not illustrate the issue. Guessing at a known phenomenon are matters that can be proven statisically and sometimes even absolutely. In what way does that relate to what one believes about an unprovable issue? If you believe that a diety could exist, then you are an agnostic. If you believe that a diety could not possibly exist, then you are an atheist.
You aren't paying attention. Many, if not most, agnostics do believe in God. They just don't believe in the imaginary portrayals of God by men who know no more about the matter than they do themselves. This is what separates agnostics from atheists. Atheist deny the existence of God by definition. Agnostics do not. They only believe that we can never know the answers to this question. Which is to say, they accept that God may exist, excluding them from atheism.
we are arguing over definitions here, but you are wrong. the words disbelief and denial are clearly not synonymous and i am suprised you think they are. i do not believe lsu will lose tomorrow. i do not deny they will. see the the difference? cmon man, wake up, i dont have to know an answer absolutely to believe or not believe it. i dont believe i will be killed by terrorists today. but it is possible. i do not deny the possibility. simple.
Of course. You are agnostic about the LSU football game. If you were atheistic about the LSU football game, you would deny that they would win.
Yes, I paid attention and you're still incorrect. People who believe in God are theists, not agnostics.
I find your assumptions telling and hilarious. lay off the TV bud, read a book "Contradictions do not exist. Whenever you think you are facing a contradiction, check your premises. You will find that one of them is wrong." Ayn Rand
