It's fried cornmeal. You eat it with sugar and milk, like cereal. The Little Rascals at the orphanage used to call it "mush".
My family fries it up in a cast iron pot and mixes coffee with it, and a lil cream. I don't know if it tastes that good so much as I enjoy eating breakfast at Grandma's house...whatever was served up......
I think this is the toughest question ever posed to me on a message board. I can't answer it. I have many favorites. It's too hard. Maybe if I was on Death Row and had to select my last meal, I could successfully answer the question. However, I would probably still pick a few favorites. It would depend on how strict the warden was.
Somebody told me that the favorite last meal on death-row at Angola was fried shrimp. I could probably eat myself to death on them, actually. Death by crustacean.
#1 All time favorite is: spinach leaf salad with bacon bits, croutons, boiled eggs, tomatoes, raw onions topped with Jason's Deli ranch dressing. I get that every single time and I never tire of it!!!
you sure you ain't a democrat?? :hihi: I have to admit a good salad bar is pretty high on my list too. As long as it's all you can eat. Jason's Deli is good, so is Ruby Tuesday, with a bowl of chicken chili on the side.
after some serious thought i have assembled the perfect meal: cup of crab gumbo crawfish pies fried oyster poboy baked mac and cheese ibc or abita bottled root beer or abita amber. no kidding reading that makes me salivate.
mmm...mmm...mmm you guys have listed some good foods. marc--i love the breakfast idea; really hard to beat. although i might sub tomato juice for the orange juice (better yet- a bloody mary, would make the napping part sweeter.) but, if i'm going to pick just one i'll go with shrimp and grits. i've worked on my recipe for 2 years and get no complaints. mmm..now i'm ready to go stir up another batch.
