Was that the 60's flick about a man and his 76 trombones, and the wonderful, wonderful tune he played on every heart in town?
Trouble with a capital T and that rhymes with P and that stands for Pool. My all-time favorite musical. Growing up in New Orleans, my dad sang bass in a barbershop quartet, so I have a special appreciation for the Buffalo Bills, who were the 1950 world champions. Their rendition of "Lida Rose" with Shirley Jones is one of the highlights of the movie. Those who know this number will find this version from the 2010 champs pretty amusing. Ran across it last week: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWCNiIikbFw]Storm Front - 2010 International Quartet Champions - YouTube[/ame]
It's a classic. The traveling bachelor con-man gets into the pants of the heavily-hootered librarian by deceit and charm. But its not my favorite musical film. That could be Guys and Dolls, where the two bachelor street gamblers take bets on who can get into the pants of the heavily-hootered Salvation Army major. Or Paint Your Wagon, where a hundred bachelor miners plot to steal a wagonload of heavily-hootered whores from another camp and then engage in polygamy. But it's probably My Fair Lady, where the curmudgeon bachelor professor wins the heavily-hootered flower girl away from her faggy suitor by treating her scandalously and spending a lot of money on her. I really like that one.
Mr. Red, you talk prettier than a twenty dollar whore.:rofl: Oh, and Guys and Dolls finishes a close second for me.
In no particular order: 1. Raising Arizona - Coen brothers plus a great cast; 2. South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut - Trey Parker and Matt Stone have been creating funny sh_t for a remarkably long time; 3. Streetcar Named Desire: Great story and cast; 4. Dr. Strangelove: Peter Sellers at his best; and 5. Glengarry Glen Ross: Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Alan Arkin, Alec Baldwin, Kevin Spacey, . . . My tastes are all over the place.
