well... i mean it wouldnt really be too many seats, but the uppers are pretty steep and that would make for a really weird looking stadium
Cheapseats in the endzone also pay no surcharges. It's why a south upper deck would never pay for itself and will likely never get built. LSU's emphasis is on sideline premium seats with high surcharges. The new upper deck would never have been built without them. People just aren't willing to pay for high endzone seats witha poor view of the field when there are so many TV games.
I thought I read somewhere that the East Upper was build off center because the weight room built during the Dinardo years was in the way. But then again, it could be my imagination.
So you don't think they will ever bring around the sides to enclose the south upper deck? Your reasoning makes sense, but for some reason I had the impression that LSU wanted to do that.
I'm sure it is a design consideration, but I just doubt it will ever be built. There are a lot of empty seats in Tiger stadium for many games--even in the national championship year. A south upper deck would be expensive and might be empty a lot. Nobody wants to see that. Parts of the lower bowl are over 80 years old and will have to be replaced soon for structural reasons. Sideline seats are now paying expensive surcharges and will not put up with the poor condidion of the lower bowl much longer. I think that will happen first. Joe Dean once did a study on completing north and south zone upper decks and found that it would be far cheaper to just go over to the River Road and build a shiny, new 100,000-seat Tiger Stadium.
