What's one poor behavior that people generally tolerate?

The down and out can be con men too. I used to know this guy, a real scum of the earth and he looked it. I heard he is dead now from an overdose. He would stand on the side of the street where traffic is leaving Our Lady of the Lake Hospital going on to Essen. Every day he would stand there with his cardboard sign until he got enough money to buy an 8 Ball which he would then shoot into his veins. It never took him longer than about 3 hours to get enough money.

There was another guy I would see all the time when I worked at an office on Sherwood Forest Blvd near I 12. He would park his beat up old pickup at the Chevron station and walk to the off ramp and hold his sign. This guy looked the part. He looked like death warmed over. One day one of the guys I worked with who lived in Denham Springs told me the guy lived in a nice house down the street from him and went to the same church. He had a late model Lincoln and on Sunday wore an expensive suit.

About 3 years ago I stayed in a hotel in Burlington, Mass, a suburb of Boston for about 3 months while the company I was working for was there. There was a guy who was out on the median just about every single weekday afternoon. He looked pretty clean and healthy and always had on jeans and a green army jacket. His wife would usually be about a block down the street doing the same thing. You can't tell me they weren't pulling down some serious $$.

The point is I don't believe any of them is truly down and out unless they are seriously into drugs. For most I think its just their job. I can count on one hand the number of times I have given any of them anything. Why should I give my hard earned money to somebody who just might be making more than me?

See. Perfect example. These two trucks have the road blocked. The right lane is closed a mile ahead and the ass hat to my right doesn't want to merge. Double birds clown.

Whoa WHoa WHoa on the e-cig hate! Please!

I'm a smoker who wants to quit, but am severly addicted. So I have an e-cig that I puff on at my desk. In my car. Etc.

YOu must understand --- that person with the E-Cig.... they want to quit. They know they need to, but the nicotine is in control.

Last point, that E-Cig probably keeps them at their desks more, and hopefully more productive. Some smokers abuse smoke break privlidges while many non-smokers complain about smokers being outside smoking instead of inside, at our desks, working.

So please... understand what your fussing about ---

If I'm smoking an E-Cig.... there's a list of things I am NOT doing.

I only have one friend who used to smoke, but she switched the the e-cigarettes a couple of years ago. It doesn't annoy me in the least, and I can't say that for actual smoking--a behavior that I abhor (but mercifully see none of anymore, as every place in Plano is smoke-free.)

I picked that picture for a reason and I did mention "out here" which means California. Folks out here tend to do shit just because they think it looks good or is popular. I know plenty of women who smoke vapor cigs "just because", not because they have a nicotine addiction. The ones who are smoking in their car and trying to get attention are the WORST drivers (besides the Asian ladies who can't see above the dash). They look around to see whose watching them and generally seem to be ignorant of the traffic around them. I don't imagine most of these Cali dingbats spend much time at a desk, working. They are on the way to the mall or the bar. Feelin me?

Best of luck to you in quitting. Don't give up!

I'm not able to determine the difference between the truly needy panhandlers versus the con artists. I've heard they can make six figures in Houston due to the busy intersections. When I'm approached by one when not in my car (such as walking downtown or while pumping gas), I politely say "No thank you" with a quick smile. My 11 yr old thought this was odd when it happened on a recent trip downtown and he's probably correct. I don't want to be mean, which is why I add the "thank you". If I added "have a great day" or "God Bless", that would be overkill IMO since I'm not giving anything.

Hmmm... Six figures you say. Where do I go to sign up for panhandling school?

You just gotta look past the get up. The example I gave for instance. If he is homeless then how in the hell does he have a fresh shave? Blades aren't cheap and if I'm begging for food my next nickle sure as hell isn't goint towards a mach 5 or whatever number they are up to now. There are ways, look for tan lines where a watch would go or a wedding ring. People watch, look for cars in the area that don't seem to move but are always there when the hobo is collecting. I see the same people with the same sign all the time. Just gets old.

Let's add female Asian drivers to the list for this thread. Geez, they're horrible, and I live in an area that is easily 40% Asian or so.

Not to mention that Asian females have no filter whatsoever. A couple of years ago, an Asian mom at my daughter's dance studio (who I barely knew) came up and started running her fingers through my hair, "Ooooh, you have soft hairs, but I could neva be so bold to keep the gray hairs..."

Quit touching my freakin' hair, Lady! And if I wanted to color my "hairs," I would, but I kinda like the gray hairs (most people mistake them for blond highlights...)
