Perhaps I'll give it another shot. I do remember trying the place for the first time 15 years ago or so and not ever tasting a filet like that one.
I made a big pot of red beans and rice from this recipe last night: http://forums.tigerfan.com/recipes/15963-louisiana-cooking-louisiana-people-recipes.html#post136471 :thumb: Found some Andouille sausage here in AZ at a market (good but not the same) which made it really come together. Came out great! My wife made a sweet cornbread with it and I downed it with a home-brewed wheat beer......mmmmmm!!
home cooked goodness. meatloaf. baked mac&cheese (yes, the "real" kind!). sauteed corn that i just cut off the cob. kolaches for dessert. and best of all, leftovers for lunch tomorrow!
Tonight, here.......... Texas de Brazil Tomorrow night............ Mansurs on the Boulevard | Baton Rouge Fine Cuisine | Upscale Restaurant :thumb:
i have never been to texas de brazil. i dont think i could do it justice. ok, i could give it a try, but still.... i have only been to mansur's once. we may have to try it again this season.
I've never been to a Texas de Brazil but have gone to a couple of other similar places. I rarely overeat on buffets but make an exception for Brazilian steakhouses. I love the extravagant salad bars and sampling of all the meats. Shortly after moving to Houston in 2001, my parents took me out to Fogo de Chao for some type of special occasion (maybe a birthday). I loaded up my salad bar plate, got back to my seat and noticed my wine had been poured while I was away. As I was taking my first sip, I briefly locked eyes with former President Bush and it caused me to kind of choke (i.e. wrong pipe). My mom kind of teased me for not being a wine drinker and I told her it was because of the "guy" at the table next to us. After she realized who it was, she mentioned it to the rest of the table but said "don't everyone look at once". For the next few minutes, we all felt a little awkward stealing glances. George, Barbara, and the other couple hit up the salad bar shortly after and gave us a polite head nod. My dad went to an Astros game the very next night with some sort of company tickets and the elder Bush was sitting near him and shook everyone's hands in the section. My dad said Bush looked at him like "Don't I know you from somewhere?".
