You can kiss my ass. I'm over here to talk a little football with the mostly good people on this board. I haven't insulted anybody or done anything to suggest I'm a "rube". Stuff it. Show me two better safeties on the same team. Please. Look, I'm not here trying to say UGA is the best team in the nation. I already stated that on paper ya'll should win. You lead us in most every category. Your team is hot and seems to be one of those special teams like we had last year. Our offense has not lit the world on fire, true. But how in the world can you say the #3 defense in the country is overrated when the stats are VERY close to your own steel curtain, and the #3 defense has played a schedule at least as tough as your own? Hardly overrated.
Dawg that is a fair post. I think both teams have vastly improved since the last game. My hope is that LSU will score one or two touchdowns off Greene pick-offs and that our offense can muster at least 17 of its own. It will be a fight!
Not really, G-man. Our pass Defense is 8th nationally at 171.83 ypg. Lsu is 24th at 190.75pg. Not really much difference. Total Defense: LSU 741 plays 260.42 ypg UGA 748 plays 261.92 ypg I don't wanna overstay my welcome. My point was just to say I think it will be a very tough game between two stellar defenses. Your offense is better..... It oughta be a real slobberknocker. May the best team win. By the way, wouldn't it be nice if we have a few more of these meetings in Atlanta in the future? Good Luck and ya'll be safe traveling!
Folks: We can all talk all the statistics we want. We can bring up how UGA almost lost to UAB. I remember UAB beating us in our house. It does not matter why they beat us. Stupid QB play, flat or what ever we want to use, we got beat. The same UF team beat us both. It does not matter how many or few points UF scored on each of us, or how few or many each of our teams scored against UF. You can’t change the math we both lost the game. We can’t each take away plays or points in a game that has already been played and the outcome decided. None of that matters now. It’s difficult to beat a team you’ve already beaten, but its done time and again in the NFL. Hell, it’s difficult to beat a good team once. Both teams have revenge factors. The loss for UGA is the dawgs. Constantly being told that the better team lost is ours. BCS bowl trip is a factor for both. What happened during the first game, during the season, injuries, playing flat, none of that matters. Matt having a poor performance against OM does not mean he will have a poor performance against UGA, no more than the UGA OL’s performance against LSU the first game is an indication of how they will play Saturday. LSU winning 11 games, UGA winning 10 games does not matter come Saturday. SC moving the ball on the ground against UGA and gaining 0 yards against LSU do not matter. The last meeting was determined by a number of factors. The performance of both teams, breaks such as, fumbles, interceptions, missed field goals, returns, bounce of the football, and yes there was luck. Luck that UGA scored on a screen pass that should have gone for no more than ten yards. Luck that LSU scored on a pass route breakdown. I do believe that teams can create breaks as well. As for UGA suffering through all the injuries, that unfortunately is part of the game too. You’re preaching to the choir about that. We experienced injuries to key personnel for the past three years. We over came them in 2001, we were not as fortunate in 2002, and once again we over came them in 2003. Last season we were 5-1, kicked the chit out of UF, Matt went down for the year and our season followed him. None of that has an effect on the game being played Saturday. How each phase of the team’s game plan is executed Saturday along with TO’s and field position, will determine the outcome. IMO – in the end we will have watched the two best teams and coaching staffs in the SEC play for a second time. This could turn out to be one hell of a rivalry over the next two years. We could possibly meet 4 times in two years. However, I do believe LSU will win. If they don’t, it’s been one hell of a season as a Tiger fan. This LSU fan no longer has to say “wait until next year”, we’re already there.
I think a quote from earlier this year should be brought back up. I don't remember who said it, I think it was Trev Alberts, but I believe it went something like "They play 10 times, Georgia wins 9 of them." Well, we now get to see who wins round two, this time in a more Georgia friendly atmosphere.
Man, I'm not real sure. I've heard Citrus vs. Purdue or Iowa. I've also heard rumblings about the Peach Bowl, but I doubt that. That would really be an insult....but who can tell with these screwy bowls/bcs business? Personally, I'm thinking sunny L.A. vs. Michigan. You wouldn't mind a trip to Florida, now would you? It'd be a pretty nice reward for an 11-2 season.
