Your yardage advantage notwithstanding, it also leaves the final score LSU 10, Georgia 3...still a loss. I do agree though, that predictions of a high score on either side are kind of unrealistic considering the defensive nature of both teams. I don't think anybody's going to get blown out Saturday night.
Since this game is the 2nd time around, both teams have the opportunity to re-work their game plan considerably. I expect Georgia to do a much better job handling the blitz, but I also suspect that Saban knows this and will adjust accordingly. With the injured players returning Georgia will be improved on offense. However, Mauk had a bad game last time and should do a lot better. LSU's running game is vastly improved. Also, LSU is doing a lot better "going long" to open up the game, which by the way, is how we closed down game-1. Georgia DOES have a very good team, but I believe LSU's team is not just very good, but "special".
Georgia has had to deal with more overall injuries than just about any other Division I school in the country this season. The loss of players on the caliber of Kendrell Curry and Decory Bryant would have ended the run of just about any other team around. But the Georgia Defense has remained solid..!! LSU will score some points, but to think that the game will be an LSU blowout is unrealistic.
Chip... my point about these teams are that they are not explosive offensive teams, and a team of Georgia's caliber should shut them down, and that contributes to your defensive rating. When you look at the good offensive teams Georgia has played, that is where some of their loses have occurred. it is also no coincidence that the two loses are to teams with good defenses as well (Florida and LSU). Again, no disrespect, but I would expect LSU to shut down ULM, Western Ill, Bama, and Miss St down as well...which they did.
LSU is gonna win handily here ... 42-10 looks good here ... glad you're amused ... we are too. This Greene character and GA's offense just doesn't get the job done ... look at the PROOF ... in the SEC stats. http://www.nola.com/lsu/spnet.ssf?/...ec-Notebook.htm Fun Fact #1 .... this one is the best .... Mr. Greene leads the SEC in NEGATIVE YARDAGE RUSHING ... BY AN ABSOLUTE FREAKING RUNAWAY MARGIN ... -132 yards .... This one is a MYSTERY! How the hell did he get there ... snickering while watching replay of LSU vs GA 2003 ... that poor bastid is picking himself up after another vicious hit ... #92, LOL ... did you get the # on that truck? Fun Fact #2 .... this QB has passed for 9TDs in 12 games ... an astounding figure considering 8 interceptions to go with that. His passing efficiency is in the "gutter" of the SEC Passing efficiency rankings. And, these GA pukes come into this forum and talk 27 points against LSU, their scoring average this year. After they play us twice they may score 27 ... then, maybe not ... they got 14 in the first game ... and we're way better on Defense now. Fun Fact #3 .... the GA Offense ... especially the passing game is absolute freaking fiction ... and GA leads the league in Field Goals ... 27 of 'em ... because their IMPOTENT OFFENSE folds during crunch time in the red zone. 3 FGs per every TD ... a joke repeated for the cheap seats ... 3 FGs per every TD ... new collegiate record ... Somewhere Coach Pat "Tye" is giving GA a "golf clap" ... I'm passing Dr. Pepper through my nose. Fun Fact #4 .... GA's receiving corps are near the bottom of the list ... for obvious reasons above ... none of their receivers catches 4 passes a game or has more than 50 yards per game ... weak as piss. Fred Gibson is overrated as hell ... 1 TD in 9 games I give up ... it ain't fun anymore ... getting boring typing this shit 5 .... LSU Rushes 179/gm, GA 144/gm 6 .... LSU allows below 70 rushing, GA 90/gm 7 .... LSU leads almost every damned worthwhile statistical category in the SEC ... except FGs ... See Fun Fact #3 ... and don't cite passing dee yardage ... their passing efficiency defense is behind LSU's. Really look at the numbers ... GA is ALL SMOKE & MIRRORS ON OFFENSE & THEIR DEFENSE IS OVERRATED. The passing offense stats say it all: Look at the passing TDs for LSU (29) & GA (10) ... a joke. You'll have to kick 15 FGs to beat LSU saturday... you're dismissed
Swerved made a good point about how it was our first test when we played in September. Our team "knows" it can dominate a good opponent like Georgia now instead of hoping to. I'm still amazed at how injury-free our season has been (knocking on wood right now). I saw Georgia's list of injuries is pretty long but I'm not sure how many of these guys are starters. Other than the cover corner that is out for the year, what other significant players are out and how long have they been out of the lineup? Our defense may get beat 1-2 times this Saturday but that'll be about it. I think it's up to Mauck and the offense to score 20-30 pts to pull out the victory. 24-13 sounds good to me.
Our losses: Decory Bryant (CB) Kedric Golston (starting DT...he's probable) Kentrell Curry (All SEC safety, out since early season) We're in decent shape injury-wise on Defense. THe only thing concerning me is our secondary. I think our top two (Thornton and Jennings) will be fine. But ya'll have three excellent receivers and I'm a little worried about our 3rd DB. Our saving grace back there is Thomas Davis and Sean Jones, the best safety tandem in the nation, imo. 221 tackles and 6 Int's between them. By the way, that "Greene character" is 31-7. That ain't too shabby. Good thread fellas. Appreciate the insight. Hope for a good, injury free game with lots of sad Cajuns.
Re: Our losses: LMFAO, gotta love this rube ... best in the NATION .... and not even leading stats in their own conference.
221 tackles is an awful lot of stops for a pair of DB's to be making. When your safeties are averaging over 100 tackles apiece, it tells me that people are breaking loose into your secondary.
