I just don’t understand why the Saban vrs Miles thing keeps coming up. If we really wanted to, we could go dig up all the poorly coached games Saban has hosted.

For example, LSU - Bama 2009.

For the freaking team of the decade to be trailing an LSUCK Miles team for 3 quarters only to take the lead after chuck and JJ go down says something how inferior old Satan really is..

    Or,

    LSU - Bama 2008

Hell, this was an LSUCK team X's 2 and took Mr. Satan again to OT............

Or wait, Mrs. can't coach Miles shoves it up Turbans ass and says F U I’m going for it on 4th 5 times chew on this LSU D***.... Peace here we come NCG..

Oh how about the time Old Satan lost to Utah...or that no name school in 2007....

So which is it? Is it the players or the coaches?

    Whatever works against Miles right....

IN 2002 when Mauck goes down, we then lose 4 of the next 6. Obviously it is out of Saban's control right.....

Though, J Lee and JJ would have fared much better under a Satan team....

Still in the past decade, I think Saban still holds the record for the worst loss of an LSU team in the past 9-10 years to UGA at 45-16.. WAIT, it might be the 41-9 loss to UF in 2000..

    The list goes on...

lets continues these topics until old Saban releases us from this hell......

Can't believe you left out the UAB loss. Good point about the '02 season, by the way. Interesting comparison.

ya, I just don’t get it.

Though, I will be the first to say I have said my share of nasty things about Miles, always out of anger, but when I look at facts and how he PUTS the game in the player’s hands or Coordinators hands, there is no real difference from him to Saban other than a few things.

Miles is far from a coach who possesses the best coaching skills in the country, but what he lacks in skill and knowledge, he more than makes up with it in surrounding himself with smart people that build this team.

In no way shape or form is a team created or defined by one person. Though, Miles is man enough to admit his faults and take the blame.
I have no doubt he gives US and LSU his best efforts. Often things aren’t always as black and white as they seem. The players love him, and that is all that really matters. Not our selfish opinions of a few screwy calls. Calls that are always 50/50 and make him an amazing coach in 2007, but a dumbass in 2009..

Les Miles has a chance to redeem himself. He also has a chance to burn that bridge completely. Lets see what he chooses.

How? LSU has won 2 national championships while never dropping below 8 wins. Being a consistently good 10-win team for a decade doesn't "ensure" that LSU can never do better. Quite the opposite. These are the teams that get shots at titles.

Well, you can't use the last 10 years because Miles has only been here 5 yrs. You said being a consistent 10-win team doesn't ensure we can never do better. At this point, 8.5 wins per year is closer to reality than 10. The last 2 years we have only won 8 and 9 games respectively. Doubters feel unless something changes 8-9 wins is what we are looking at if the talent level stays high.

This is not meant to defend Miles and some of the shortcomings the Tigers have had over the past 2 seasons, but with the exception of a couple of games, UF and UGA in 08, we have been in every game. This isn't to excuse some of the close calls against teams we should man handle, but rather to point out that many consider Miles to be on the hot seat for some of these shortcomings and our record over the past 2 seasons, and with valid reasoning. This is the SEC, I think, so there are at least 8 teams that are very close in talent and coaching, so games will or can be close. In some of these games Bama 08 it took OT for them to beat us and in 09 it took some questionable calls. Is that bad coaching or just a bounce of the ball the wrong way? In 08 UF spanked us, no excuse, but in 09 again a few questionable calls and a bounce of the ball the other way and who knows. Is that bad coaching or just a bounce of the ball the wrong way?

As pointed out fate has a way of balancing out. We won a couple of these very same games in the previous seasons with the bounce of the ball and calls going our way. To me it isn't so much a large gap between our coaching staff and the rest of the SEC's coaching staffs, it is a game of an inch here and an inch there. The talent is pretty much equal for the top teams, so that really isn't the big determining factor. To me the determining factor in these games, moving forward, will be winning back those inches and getting a bounce of the ball our way here and there.

This season will prove to be a turning point in Miles' LSU career, a turning point that I think will prove to be a big step in getting back to the place He and all LSU fans want to be. If we compete, if we have the attitude, if we have the swagger, if we have the determination, and if we get an inch here and there we will be a "Damn Strong Team". A lot of "if's" that's for sure, but I think that Miles has found the answer to several of those "if's" that will have us back on top. I can't wait for this season to prove we are the TIGERS.:LSU231: :geaux: :milesmic:

I don't think we can expect to outgained in total yardage in big games the way we have and expect a few lucky bounces in our favor to make the difference.
