    yeah...what he said...

I honestly don't have a problem with paying a little money to watch my favorite team play football if I can't be there, and if its good quality.

But using the "military" thing regarding his story is a bit far fetched.

If you are able to watch LSU sports from Bahrain or Iraq, then you are:

    A. Privilaged with that much time on your hands.
    B. Not in a combat zone
    C. Making CRAP TONS of money to be able to afford a small internet viewing fee.

but then Again, what do I know? :hihi:

I can afford it and I will pay it. Streaming audio is a great option for us out-of-staters who want to keep up with a piece of home.

BUT, this is a horrible business decision. Many listeners will tune out because of a fee-based schedule, because we have come to associate audio with the radio, which remains free.

LSU should recognize the intrinsic value of exposure. Free streaming audio is cheap advertising for the university and it nurtures a sense of ownership amongst far-flung fans.

Sell sponsorships/ads to defray some of the cost, but be prepared to eat the rest. I admit I don't know the numbers (I'd like to), but they'd have to be pretty impressive to make me change my mind.

LSU will be the big loser in the long run. Many have already been priced out of the stadium, and an avenue for free real-time passive participation should be maintained.

If the future is streaming video, and the cost is prohibitive for LSU, then a pay-per-viwe option seems reasonable.

I hate to tell you this, but colleges with less history and inferior sports teams charge to listen to the games on the internet. It's just something you have to live with. It doesnt cost that much anyway.

Imagine that....Internet users on a message board are up in arms about having to pay a few bucks for entertainment. I'm shocked.

Did you happen to watch the 'pay-per-view' game last year on LSUsports.net ....what a freakin joke? Charging a fee per user will allow the hosting company to provide the bandwidth needed to handle the rabid masses of Tiger Nation outside of the range of 870am. Yes, it was very nice to have the audio for free, but if anyone here TRIED to listen to the Regional on the net, you can share my pain! Fees will insure the fan base outside of the state will have the best service possible.... not a feed that goes up and down, and freeze frames for most of the 2nd quarter!

However, if this fee does not dramatically improve the level of service, I will be up in arms.

it sure pisses me off. i think its stupid. this decision will only slow the growth of the lsu fan base. hopefully, too few will sign up and they'll change their minds. i'm torn between signing up and deducting the amount from my alumni donation or just not signing up. maybe i'll become a martyr.

All you have to do to avoid any fees is to find a Louisiana radio station that carries LSU games that also has free streaming audio. Then, just tune into that radio stations site for the game. Bypass LSUSportsnet altogether. Now if they charge for "live stats" (aka comatose stats) I will not be happy. The stats service is a piece of crap.

if it is pay only to listen..all the websites that stream will have to cease during games.

YOU KNOW WHAT I DID? TREAT WOUNDED MARINES IN COMBAT WITH SUCKING CHEST WOUNDS,LACERATED INTESTINES, BROKEN ARMS,LEGS AND MORE GUNSHOT WOUNDS THAN 100 WESTERNS PUT TOGETHER.

LOOK YOU GODDAMN SLACKJAWED IGNORANT MOTHER****ER I WAS THERE WHEN DEAD CHILDREN WERE BROUGHT TO ME WITH NO ARMS AND NO LEGS CRYING FOR THEIR MOMS AND DADS, WHO WERE JUST KILLED BY IRAQI SOLDIERS. OKAY?!?!??

    YOU GOT THAT????

I WAS THERE WHEN 18 YEAR OLD MARINES TOLD ME THEY WOULD GIVE ME 1000 DOLLARS TO OVERDOSE THEM ON MORPHINE AND DEMEROL SO THEY COULD JUST DIE AND NOT GO BACK TO BEING A CIVILIAN WITH NO LEGS.

I WAS THERE WHEN LITTLE MOTHER****ING KNOW-IT-ALLS AS YOURSELF TRANSFERRED NEARBY ASKING WHERE THE SHOWERS WERE AS WHEN EVERYONE ELSE WAS "SHOWERING" WITH BABYWIPES.

WE DIDNT HAVE TIME TO "SURF THE NET".

YOU MAY NOT UNDERSTAND THIS, BUT SOME OF US HAVE ALREADY DONE OUR TIME OVER THERE AND MADE IT BACK ALIVE, WHILE OTHERS (LIKE YOURSELF) JUST BITCH ABOUT GOING.

SO NEXT TIME YOU COMMENT ON SOMETHING YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT, I SUGGEST YOU SHUT THE **** UP AND KNOW YOUR ****ING PLACE.
