I went to USL, not LSU. I have been a fan of both schools, but living here in the middle of USL country has turned me a little sour toward my alma mater. Again, I stress that it's a vocal minority that rubs me the wrong way but they are very vocal, and very persistent. Mostly I find their rantings to be amusing. The name thing, for example. They can be officially called THE University of Louisiana for all I care because until their performance improves, they will still be an athletic laughing stock.
Couldn't agree more!!! I usually like to see the other La teams play well and win in any contest not against LSU but the out right hatred and mean heartedness of some of their fans over the last couple of years has mellowed my desire to pull for some of them. I never hated Tulane before they had a little success in baseball and declared themselves the new baseball power in the south. Always and I mean always pulled for the Ragin Cajuns until that ugly ugly series at the box. Most of these teams are not even a blip on the radar screen of the LSU fan until something outrageous happens. Like a poster here stated and as I've seen posted about Tulane numerous times penis envy seems to be the root cause. :geaux: :lsug:
I was thinking the same thing. I am all for the Louisiana schools to do well and succeed, except when playing LSU. Except in the case of Tulane, where I cheer for whoever is playing Tulane (there are built in exceptions where Tulane is playing my most hated teams in the country...ND, USC, BC, FSU, Miami...). And if USL wanted to become UL, they should have lobbied hard enough in the first place. The thought that they would become ULL and eventually drop the second L as a work-around to get what they really wanted is just childish.
I think of ULL sort of the same way I think about mosquitoes. You don't really ever think about mosquitoes until you have to swat one.
You know, I appreciate postings like yours Brett. I can make read it and understand your viewpoint. I know there are issues between both schools, and yes, I concede that ULL might be more to blame, but LSU is not blameless. I understand what has happened in the past, but that was the past. Also, I won't classify LSU fans as classless, but I will say that of Stripes. Hopefully, you don't represent the majority out there. Stripes, it is people like you that give LSU fans a bad name across the SEC. The fact is is that I am a bigger LSU fan than ULL fan because I have grown up in an LSU family where that is all that is discussed. All of my immediate family members are LSU grads. You can always tell when someone has an agenda, their arguments always involve name calling and pure rambling. Please state an opinion, without showing ignorance with name calling. I understand that some people will never be ULL fans and some will never be LSU fans, but must we celebrate whenever something bad happens to the other. Again, after leaving the state and taking a step back view, I understand why we are in last place in most all categories. We are very passionate people when it comes to sports and our culture, but eventually you must move beyond that. It is a crying shame that talented LSU, ULL, and other LA grads must leave the state in order to attain a job. This can all be accredited to the people with attitudes like Stripes.
I didn't know that stripes was a crooked politition, because that is what has held us back for the most part, a corrupt self serving political system with no oversight or accountability. Stripes now that I know what you are I don't like you either!!!!!
My attitude is that you are a UL-Lafayette fan masquerading.... as an LSU fan. Why is so important to you to lay some blame on LSU for anything to do with UL-Lafayette? What is your point? Why should LSU fans care one whit about UL-Lafayette? Most of LSU's fans don't care about UL-Lafayette at all unless there is a game between the two. My question to you is why do you direct your questions at LSU fans with some sort of assumption of hatred by LSU fans toward UL-Lafayette? The fact of the matter is that most LSU fans don't view UL-Lafayette as anything other than just another in-state school. That is because that is all UL-Lafayette is or ever will be. Any problems UL-Lafayette has with LSU is of Ul-Lafayette's own making. UL-Lafayette just needs to stop pretending to be more than it is. UL-Lafayette needs to learn how to handle La Tech and UL-Monroe before they try to compare themselves with LSU. That brings me to the main point, LSU doesn't try to compare itself to UL-Lafayette on the contrary it is the other way around. Therefore any problems with comparisons between the two are coming from UL-Lafayette. So, once again, why don't you take this silly crap to the UL-Lafayette boards where they will agree with you about those mean old LSU fans and how LSU has held UL-Lafayette back all these years. Grow up.
Again, weak...I am just trying to see what this boards opinion is. I'm not trying to get yelled at or called names. Maybe you are correct...Maybe it is completely ULL fault. I just wanted to have a nice discussion. Again, read my comments. I am BOTH an LSU and ULL fan. Why are you having such a difficult time with that? I love in state rivals! I just don't like the hate speak that I am seeing from both schools. Again, the thing that bugs me most is that all of the passion that I see on these boards. If we could only continue that passion to other more important things out there, maybe this state could turn around. As far the comment about crooked polititions...It is OUR fault for voting them in!! It should show you something about the in state ignorance when a convicted fellon has been elected to serve as govenor multiple times!
If Blanco is their Moses than she is the Devil to LSU fans. She is going to hurt the state and regress both institutions.
Maderan, Please, I would like to here more about why everyone feels this way. Can you go into more detail?
