One more thing, Golf is hard and everyone gets frustated, but the ball stays still. A baseball, on the other hand comes at you 90 mph, curves every which direction, and wobble like an I dont know what (knuckleball)
Football, Baseball, Basketball, Wrestling, Track (relay, distance running, pole vault, javelin), Rugby, Tennis, Judo, Boxing, Karate, Swimming & Diving ... I tried them all and was very good at anything I worked at and enjoyed, just a natural athlete like my dad. But FAR AND AWAY ... the hardest to master and my lifelong passion has been GOLF. Even playing since 4 years old and having a +3 Handicap, I was never good enough to make the PGA Tour, though I've competed in the Hogan & Nike Tours and last cashed a check in 1995. A developed Golf Swing is one of the most spastic and unnatural movements the body can make ... that, combined with mental stress of competition at the top level of play makes the consistent mastery of this sport the Toughest of All Challenges. And, there are so many good players out there in the pro ranks now.
to compete with the best? then all sports, to be able to do recreationally, than ther eis a tie with about 10 sports with many of them being much easier cuase you don't the heck beat out of you. golf is a hard game to master but it is the easiest one to play becuase it's you against the course really and you don't get hit, thrown at, fall(unless you're too drunk), you can ride in a cart and again, you can get drunk!
but wouldn't you agree though, If you'd take a person who has never played golf or baseball and taught them to play each, you would have a better chance at seeing progress at in golf. He may never become a scratch golfer, but I know one person in particular that took up golf 4 years ago and he now has a 3 handicap. I wish I could find that aricle I read, but it says that hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports. It wasnt opinionated, it gave facts and numbers and all that crap. Ramah, Can you even master golf? IMO, Ole Tiger Woods is the best golfer ever, he still makes swing changes. And he will never be satisfied. Golf is not about perfection to me, its about having fun and playing within youself. I know I will never master it, or even come close but I have fun trying.
I agree...Baseball is the hardest USAToday had the article of the hardest thing in sports to do and #1 was hit a baseball. I had an argument about this with a coworker and he said golf or gymnastics or figure skating. The point is though.......a professional, good hitter in the major leagues hits .300 right? How many of those hits were off curveballs....? Maybe 1 out of those 3? How many times in a row does David Toms hit the ball straight? At least 9 out of 10....maybe more? How many times does a girl fall off the balance beam doing a turn thingy? How many times out of 10 does a skater fall doing her triple lutz thingy? They nail it more than 3 out of 10 or 1 out of 10 for a curveball. Hitting a baseball, especially 95 mph fastballs and curveballs , IMO, is the hardest thing to do.
Yeah I dont think we are talking about competing professionally really. Now to make it to the PGA tour is a whole different story, those guys are special. I was just think we are talking about getting good.
Yeah..good article I think it ran over like 5 days or something with hitting a baseball being the tops. Good article and I think it's correct. But look, I played baseball and basketball..........but golf is the hardest thing for me to get even remotely good at........I can't hit consistent. Maybe every third shot is OK. I started too late in life........
Re: Yeah..good article Agreed, I wasnt talking for myself. For me it Golf also. FBall, Baseball, Basketball all came naturally. Golf I had to work at.
