I only disdain greedy wealthy people and also some middle class people like SF, who shine their boots for them. We're all trying to get richer, that's the American way. But middle-class people who are doing pretty well, like SabanFan and myself, have few tax interests in common with the ultra-wealthy. I don't blame the rich for putting their interests first. But I'm damned if I can understand why some of the well-off middle class put the best interests of the truly wealthy above their own. :insane:
and you leave out the fact that the first 3 million is exempt from the inheritence tax. The right likes to call it the death tax. I think it should be the Paris Hilton tax. Because without it, people like Paris Hilton, who use public roads, are protected by the milatary, ect, in short, use services provided by taxpayers, would never pay any tax.
Just for clarification, my comment was not directed at you but as a response to luvdmtigers. I am very much middle class but I guess I want to know I live in a society where I can get wealthy with just one good idea or with a lot of hard work. That's why I don't think we should just tax the hell out of the rich because they have the money. As much as most people don't want to believe it, the activities of the rich create money and jobs for the less fortunate.
I understand that. That's why I argue the inheritance tax is unfair to the wealthy where you said it was a tax that favors the wealthy. If you know this, then how can you say inheritance tax is a tool for the wealthy?
I consider myself middle class, my income is in six figures, but I'm with Red, I don't see why so many want to carry water for the folks who need it the least.
No Red. I do not shine their boots. Neither do I obsess over whether they are deserving of their wealth. I'm more concerned about what's going on in my own back yard.
You're losing me. How is the inheritance tax a way for wealthy people to pay less taxes as you earlier contended? And I strongly disagree with your example. Why should a man who worked his a$$ off, created thousands of jobs and fantastic hotel chain, who paid taxes all along the way, then die and be taxed at 45% of his entire estate just because he had the audacity to die? It's not about Paris Hilton, it's about her Dad and what's fair to his estate.
Rich is being able to afford the $25 fee to join Tigerforums yearly. Rich is also having a chick at home like the one in Tirk's or RichDog's posts. Rich is probably SabanFan's wife! Rich I am not, I can't buy what I want when I want it yet!
I've been trying for 2 months to set aside $250.00 for an aluminum prop, but more important things keep coming up. Note: I do not use credit cards.
