This would be a clamp for holding to sheets of sheet metal together. You would then use the proper hole as a drill guide.
Close, but I'm looking for the trade that employs this particular tool. It's a bit small for sheet metal work.
But that does not explain the "slots", which I assume are specific gauges. Was it used for spot welding or riveting in the automotive industry?
Not the automotive industry, for welding, or iron working. It is sturdily built, but it's a very small tool, fellers. Less than five inches long. The clamp face is about an inch wide.
