    We call them "man killas".

We'd use some my dad had made. They were 2 inch pipe that's schedule 80. After you get it on and up, the weight does a lot for you and doesn't vibrate your hands.

I guess I should've said "pain in the hands" because that's what I was mainly referring to. I've had to string up many barbed wire fences, and just the thought of a heavy, homemade one makes me wish I had it. Those storebought ones are sh*t.

Of course, like Duck said, there's been times when I had to use a sledge too.

Those of us in the combat engineer field refer to them as picket pounders. (not to be confused with skinny little hotties that are aka as picket pounders because they work very much in the same way)

I've strung miles and miles of concertina wire across the mojave desert, saudi arabia, iraq, fort hood, fort riley good God it brings back such awful memories. I hate those damn things why oh why did you have to post a picture of the dang blasted thing.

My dad passed away a few years back but I still have them. I'll try to snap a pic and post. The handles are made of 1 inch sucker rods.

At one time we had 300 momma cows (all cows are mommas, I know:)). We fenced in about that many acres. There wasn't ONE post on our farm when we got into it in the early 90's. And that's not counting the interior fences when you start sectioning off pastures, rye grass, etc.

Just to keep with the thread, who knows what this is?

I'm thinking its some type of irigation ditch maker or garden row maker? Wish I could see the other side of it.

BTW - to clarrify, it operates off the PTO of a tractor.

That would look more like an auger bit. This thing looks like a giant Phillips screwdriver head.

thats what i thought, because that is how i remember my daddy's looking from days of helping build fence. he got one after about 1/4 mile of digging post holes through sand stone by hand one summer.

but i keeping with previous posts, i thought maybe there was a different kind i didnt know about.
