    A diffuser for a jet engine of some sort?

    No, but it achieves it's purpose through diffusion.

    It's a jet diffusion plate for a gas burner/heating element.

    it has nothing to do with any type of engine.

    Because I mis-read your and Herb's posts. I should have said it is not a jet diffusion plate for a gas burner/heating element. The jet thing through me off.

    This is 6-7" across. It is made of cast iron. It is a stand alone object.
