looking at the roller on the left, it appears that it moves, making the gap between the two larger, correct?
Alright, let's see. 1. It is used to shape metal in some fashion 2. The rollers are adjustable. Is that for alignment of parts or for squeezing the metal to be shaped? 3. Looking at the rollers, it appears they have been open at about the same width as the 2 pins. 4. Plotalot is a forester. His only other entry was a tool he used, so I am assuming he might use this in his line of work as well.
Red, it's not used with, for or on a cable in any shape form or fashion. KyleK is asking the right questions. It straightens something metal that passes through the rollers and the alignment pins, both of which have close to the same clearance. It is something that one may think is used in my line of work, but I am certain not every forester could identify it or that it's use is limited to what you would think is in the field of forestry.
