    Back on topic. We know its not a print duplicator, rock sampler, 3D protractor.

    It is a Surgical instrument, but not used to insert something under bone or biopsy the brain.

    Is this one of those dealios (technical term) that they would use for a MacGyverish facial reconstruction from a skull?

    not used for facial reconstruction. It was used during the treatment of a particular type of trauma

    Nope, not a spinal tap. this was in use in the early 1900's

    Maybe it's a guide for a drill. like when you need to get through the cranium for a frontal lobotomy.

    It was used as a guide, but not for a drill or a lobotomy. Surgeons used this device to 'locate' something that needed to be removed.

    I've always bragged about my IQ....it's 70...not too shabby for only half a brain !!!
