    Hint 1. I was a residential contractor for 9 years. I used it in that trade.

    yeah i thought it was maybe some sort of flukemeter I often use.

    No. However, if he ever used one, for certain tasks, he would think "Holy fuck, how did I ever get along without this thing?"

    I used to use another means of accomplishing what this tool is used for. Doing it my old way, the task would take hours. With this tool, I accomplished the same task in less than 30 min.

    It is, technically, a meter. However, it does not connect to anything.

    so it give some general info about a place being constructed that any random contractor could use. we should know this. its going to piss me off i know it.

    does it just give you distance thru a pipe or ceiling or whatever?

    However, it gives very specific info in reference to it's intended function.

    Is it an electronic level that is used to find the high and low points in a room so you can lay out flooring or cabinets?
